Sealy Posturepedic (Sealy) - Newton Posturepedic Mattress

The company that I finally zeroed in on is Turmerry. It has been a blessing for optional configurations. Before I explain why and how I was able to customize my perfect mattress here's the background: Originally I had a latex mattress which was a combination of both natural Talalay latex and synthetic high resilient foam. This Sealy Latex Mattress was super expensive at the time because there was little knowledge and no competition. The unflippable mattress lasted 11 years before the Talalay created unbearably low pockets where my hips lay. I am only 5', 120 lbs., so weight was not the issue. The top layer of Talalay was too soft. I replaced it with a Saatva Classic hybrid. It lasted 4 years before, what I believe, were weak gauged coils and low density foam created unpockets. Reddit has a plethora of similar complaints about this Saatva. Yet you never see them online. ??? Finally I went with a Turmerry. Why? Because the model I chose had all the features I wanted for support, longevity, flexibility of configuration, customer care, etc. Note I haven't mentioned comfort. The reason is simple. Turmerry uses Dunlop in various densities: soft, medium, firm, etc. Even their softest layer is too firm for me. Even the eggcrate's points (princessy peas) are too hard. Yet Dunlop's durability lasts many years longer than even the hardest Talalay. So the trick was to add a Talalay mattress topper. Even better was to add a layer of Talalay inside the mattress. Even better was to a have a mattress with a zipper all the way around so I could replace the Talalay with a new one when it wore out (about 3 yrs.) or remove, exchange the order of firmness layers to suit me. Even better was to have a flippable mattress so all 4 corners had evenly distributed weight. Even better was the price compared to other companies. I bought during Black Friday week and had my mattress assembled within 5 days. I haven't decided on the company or softness of the Talalay yet. Also considering a Duralux layer. It is a certiPUR-US certified high-resilient foam used in quality upholstery and mattresses. Also used in many rvs. It lasts a lot longer than Talalay. If you are interested, I will update which one I think is better: Duralux or Talalay. Wishing you and your husband pleasant sleeps!

Same. Also bought a full sized firm Sealy innerspring and box spring, delivered along with my Novaform. The Sealy has also held up really well.

The original mattress factory company. We have one. You can flip it too! Had it since February we like it. Although I actually went firmer than I wanted. My partner likes firmer so I thought I’d try it. Might get a topper and see if that’s better for me.

We got a Posturepedic in February but the store we went to was very educational and they shared a lot of information so worth a trip.

Oh wow. I've had a Sealy Posturepedic for more years (decades) than I care to admit. It's your basic coil spring mattress that I can flip. Have they dropped in quality that much?

I bought a Sealy Posturepedic for about $2k. Best bed I've ever had. After doing some research I found that the same bed is sold at different stores for different prices under different names. Freedom was the cheapest (where I got it), Davis Jones was the most expensive at $3500.

Ngl I have a posturepedic that’s like 20 years old too (it’s been used on and off, not continuous) and I’m dreading the day I have to find a new one. From what I’ve seen most mattresses aren’t flippable anymore and seem to wear unevenly.

I have the same issues. I haven’t found anything that exceeds my mattress/box spring combo for comfort or longevity.

Big fig has a new luxe version that you might like. If we hadn’t already bought the sealy posturepedic. I would definitely have tried this one. This Sealy mattress has become annoying to me.

I'm a bui bui. My Sealy Posturepedic is still firm and holding up well after 6 years of use.

Hello, wise mattress guru! I would love your thoughts, if you'd be so kind. Sorry, in advance, for the length of this. Okay, here goes... In my entire life, I have only slept on innerspring mattresses with box spring foundations. The last mattress I purchased was in 2004, and desperately needs replacing. Actually, as a whole, the mattress, a Sealy Posturepedic I believe, has held up unfathomably well, and most of the mattress is still in excellent, very comfortable condition. However, on the side I sleep on most, and particularly the one area I sit on regularly there, it has for the last 4 years had an approximately 18" x 18" (butt sized) divot with a couple of springs popping through. Because it's a queen bed, I sleep as far away from that divot as possible, but can still roll into that deep divot if I get too close. Also, just from a housekeeping standpoint, I wouldn't mind having a fresh mattress. It's not that I'm not willing to buy a new mattress, but everything about mattresses has completely changed in the last 20 years. In the last 4 years, I've done tons of research and read hundreds of reviews, and still haven't gone through with a purchase. I do not want a bed that sleeps hot. I'd also like a mattress with longevity. In the past 6 months, I have recently read a lot about latex mattresses and how they sleep cool. Now though, I'm reading that they are only cool in comparison to memory foam mattresses, but that they still hold the heat. I've also seen many suggestions to "build your own mattress" and while that sounds appealing, as a single senior female, I'm not able to haul anything heavy up to my second floor bedroom or to dispose of my old mattress myself. That has me thinking that I'm better off with a seller who offers both white glove delivery and removal of my old mattress. Long before I needed a new mattress, I was intrigued by the individually pocketed coils of a Simmons' Beauty Rest, and there is one other brand that I always used to promise myself I'd own one day. That brand is the magic word you mentioned, Shiffman! I'm not sure that they're still made the same way as years ago, but back in late 1980's my parents bought a Shiffman through Bloomingdale's, and that is hands down the best, most comfortable mattress I've ever laid on. Also, the quality was superb, and it remained in the same great condition for over 25 years. Yes, it was expensive, and yes, it required flipping, but feel-wise that mattress remains my definition of a dream mattress. My questions are: Can you please comment on all Latex mattresses and Latex as the support layer? Is it much hotter than going with a traditional innerspring mattress? Also, I was once told by a salesman at Bloomingdale's that the Shiffman requires a traditional box spring foundation, and cannot be used on a platform bed. Is that true? I've always had a box spring foundation, but wouldn't mind losing the fabric covered box spring since I have allergies, and I also find the look of a platform type foundation cleaner and more modern. While I don't have $10,000.00, $20,000.00, or $40,000.00 to spend on a flagship Shiffman, Iast time I checked, the prices of Shiffman through Bloomingdale's and other retailers were not that out of reach. I no longer live in a state that has a Bloomingdale's, but there is a small, old school furniture store near me that exclusively sells Shiffman and no other mattress brand, and they told me they have models starting around $2,500.00. I read, but didn't quite understand, your thoughts on Shiffman as sold through big retail chains vs independent furniture stores. Could you please explain. If necessary I could order through Bloomingdale's in a neighboring state, but that means I wouldn't be able to to test out the mattress in-store first. Also, I'm only 5'2" tall. The big problem I had when last purchasing a mattress was that mattresses had become super thick. Most mattresses combined with a box spring were suddenly far too tall to allow me to easily climb into and out of bed. I ended up having to go with a low profile box spring, but I'm not sure they're even offered anymore. I'm okay with the new bed being maybe 2" taller than what I currently have, but don't want something so tall that I need to take a running leap to get into it, or have a big drop to the floor to get out of it. Also, I'd like a mattress with excellent edge support, since the edge that I sit on is always the first point of failure. Any thoughts or suggestions you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I don't know if I should go with a new type of mattress like a Latex mattress, or a Build-Your-Own mattress, or if I'm simply better off sticking with a traditional Innerspring Mattress that I'm used to. As for the innerspring mattresses, what are your thoughts on Sealy vs Beauty Rest vs Shiffman? I don't want to spend $5,000.00 on a Beauty Rest Black, but I'm wondering what their other models may be like. Since you are literally the only person in any thread I've read that even mentioned a Shiffman, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thank you so very much, in advance!
