My husband and I are in need of a new mattress. For context, we own a queen size original Casper memory foam mattress purchased in 2018. I have had shoulder and neck pain from it for the past few years, but recently it is becoming much worse. Weight/height: I am 105lbs, 5ft and my husband is 170lbs, 5’9”. Sleep position: I am a combo, but mostly side and stomach. I toss and turn a lot. My husband is primarily a back sleeper, sometimes side. Current issues: The mattress provides me no support and creates a lot of neck and shoulder pain. I think I am too light to sink into it. Especially obvious when my husband is also in bed because all of the support falls on his side and I feel like I’m rolling into him. There is also no edge support which we kinda need on a queen sized bed. My husband experiences periodic back and shoulder pain, but has admitted he doesn’t have as many issues as I do (hence why I’m writing this post). I have found I sleep far better on hotel beds, Japanese futons and my couch (where I end up half the time lol). I am looking at the following mattresses: \- Tempurpedic pro adapt medium hybrid \- Winkbed luxury firm \- Saatva Classic in luxury firm (or plush soft? Not sure yet) My budget is $2,500 Anyone similar size as me have experience with these mattresses?
I just tested this exact Sealy at the store today. It wasn’t on my radar at all, but I really liked it as well lol. I’m now between this one and the Helix Midnight Luxe
I sell mattresses and this is what I chose to sleep on. My woman runs super hot and it’s a great addition.
We have the new one. It’s not as good as a Tempur Luxe Breeze but for the money it’s a good option. It’s half the cost so you just have to decide if you want to pay the cost to be the boss or not.
So when I had the soft hybrid high point it was so soft and squishy it was miserable and I love soft beds. I lasted as long as I could with it but hated it and gave it to my mom because she loved it. I went out and bought the Brenham medium pillow too because my salesman told me they didn’t make it in soft, that had been a fight on its own because they do make it soft but won’t take the responsibility for not telling me the truth. Anyways my question is, do you think the soft pillow top instead of the medium will give me that cloud feeling unlike the high point did because that one made me feel like I was drowning lol
Hey y’all! I have recently tried replacing my old (decade) whatever-mattress. I had to do it quickly due to finding out sagging was causing major back and hip pain. I am entirely a side sleeper, and a sensitive one. Due to hip pain and needing more support I tried PressureSmart™ 2.0 Plush 11.75" Mattress (copied from my receipt lol). In store it felt fine! When I got it it was hard as a ROCK. I tried 2 months and never broke it in. The other issue I was having is we live near a somewhat busy road. It has never been a problem, but this new one I was transmitting vibrations like CRAZY. I tried throwing on a memory foam topper and that helped, but it did not come close to making it work. Genuinely the worst sleep of my life. I went back to the store, realizing I needed way more motion isolation, so I tried a hybrid “Posturepedic® Elite Hybrid High Point II 14" Medium“, which is half memory foam. This one I \*really\* liked in the store, but when I was lying on it last night I had the SAME issue with vibrations and small motions being transmitted, maybe worse. But I do find it very comfortable, outside of that! I’m really confused at this point. I never had this issue with my old worn out mattress - maybe it was too broken in? I’m worried I need to now figure out full memory foam. Maybe it still needs to be broken in? My partner has just a crappy ikea mattress with a memory foam topper and this just isn’t an issue in their room. I actually had to swap with them a couple nights just to get some sleep. Accepting suggestions and advice. I have a few vibration dampener things coming in for my bed stand (which is an old ikea one I admit).
I just had the Elite High Point II delivered a couple months ago and I love it. I'm a small stature person with hip arthritis and the soft version is perfect for me. I returned a Tempur Pedic medium mattress in exchange for the Sealy. The TP was twice the price and hurt like hell after half a night
We just purchased a new mattress, im a side and back sleeper too. Started with the high point II 14” medium and hated it. It was way too squishy, bouncy, slippery, felt every movement, killed my back and entire body hurt when I woke up no matter what position I was in. Plus the edges are so curved I felt like we lost a good 6-8” of bed on all sides. Exchanged for a Norman II 13” medium that has more of a classic foam feel on the top and a bit more firm/supportive but not sinking in so much it’s hard to move. Plus it’s about half the price of the high point depending on the sales they’re running at MF.
I was in mattress buying hell. I bought a sealy posturepedic elite high point ii hybrid medium and it absolutely killed my lower back. I was coming from the firm model which I liked okay but spending that much money I wanted perfect. I Returned it the medium As a rotating sleeper, I need support on the shoulder and hips. It wasn’t until I went to a mattress store and happen to lay on the king koil intimate latex hybrid that I found my mattress. Everything online is memory foam or memory foam hybrid. I didn’t even think about latex. But this thing is amazing. I highly recommend rotating sleepers to check one out in a store.
Latex is very cool! I find it cooler than my sealy with all of Swamy’s cooking technology. No complaints yet and I’m also a hot sleeper. It’s one con I can see is motion transfer is higher
We just got the High Point II yesterday and so far, so good. High Point II is the new model that came out around a year ago or so. The new model is apparently 40% cooler. Do with that what you will. However/whatever, it is a popular model that is sold at a number of retailers as opposed to a one off for a specific chain of stores. I would personally check out Bloomingdale’s as they have some Aireloom’s for 50-60% off. These are roughly twice as expensive or more than the High Point. We live in Hawaii or definitely would have checked out the Airedale otherwise. There are a number of other brands outside those that seem well regarded depending on your appetite for going down the rabbit hole.
Would doubt there are any major issues per se and it is a really well regarded model. Would hope it would be discounted since it has been discontinued. Guessing that Mattress Warehouse is no longer a Sealy dealer owing to Sealy/Tempur or whatever they are called now owning Mattress Firm.
I would check out Bloomingdale’s to see if they have any Aireloom’s on sale still. They retail above $6000 and often more, but they were/are 60% off or so. Had they had any available in Hawaii, we would have most likely gone that way. We ended up with the Sealy High Point II which we got 2 weeks ago and I must say it is quite good. Might want to check out some of the online companies as several have many fans. Also, many are down these days on the legacy brands owing to consolidation such as Sealy now owned by Tempur-pedic who also owns Mattress Firm and so on.
