I currently have the Sealy Mount Auburn purchased in 2021. I previously had a cheap Zinus MF, and it was definitely better in comparison. However, I found it to be quite firm and started the long journey of matress toppers to gain better pressure point relief for side sleeping. The matress is in perfect condition with no sagging, but after 4 years, I feel it's just not for me. It's not bad but not great. I highly recommend a sturdy wooden frame/foundation as it did improve my comfort level some. Buying from Costco is always a win with the service and return policies, so trying it is literally risk-free.
It's going to be very much what you like, what size are you and your partner, sleep style (back, side, stomach), and your budget. I spent about $510 for a Sealy Posturepedic Plus Mount Auburn 13” Medium Full Mattress last October. The reviews (and I) say that it is very firm (it's coil and foam). I'm heavy and prefer the support of coils. My guests (150 to 330 lbs) have said it is the most comfortable night’s sleep they had in decades. I like a firm mattress with very soft toppers: memory foam layer and a feather bed on top. That said, the mattress scored below average in an online review. I really like the support and not sinking onto the mattress (not into foam). https://naplab.com/mattress-reviews/sealy-posturepedic-plus-mount-auburn-review/ Watch out at Costco, the sizes can be a little off.
I’m definitely no expert but what angered me about my last mattress was not only that it lost all its support within a few years, but it had like zero edge support so a couple of moments being seated on the bed and I’d slide right off. So when I bought this one, I chose Costco because they’d dispose of that old mattress and deliver the new one quickly - and if I hated it too, they’d take it back. My bed is full sized so I didn’t have unlimited options so I went with Sealy Posturepedic Plus Mount Auburn 13” Medium - it had mixed reviews here, but seemed super sturdy and had special construction ensuring edge support. I also got the Serenity by Tempur-Pedic 2+1 Pillowtop Mattress Topper. Together, they’ve been with me nearly a year and just as supportive as the first night.
It’s been a year since I bought my mattress, and I still love it. I got the Sealy Posturepedic Plus Mount Auburn 13" in Medium firm and topped it with their Serenity by Tempur-Pedic 2+1 Pillowtop Mattress Topper. I’ve found in recent years that pillow top mattresses don’t seem to wear as well, but toppers are relatively inexpensive and I can replace to suit my comfort. The white glove delivery and removal were seamless and overall it was just a really great experience.
Bought a Sealy Posturepedic Plus about 4 years ago and love(d) it until we noticed some sagging last year. It’s unfortunately gotten worse no matter how many times we’ve rotated it. Hubby and I are light weights and we travel about half the year so we estimate 50% the normal usage? Lets hope their warranty is fair. Our friends bought Casper around the same time and they’ve had no issues. I read that if you buy it online they will pick up for free if needed, so maybe consider online.
Yeah man, I hear that. I’ve been having problems from an overloaded delivery route for the last 10 years. I returned a firm Sealy posturpedic plus a while back, the previous model to these newer ones. And I’ve tried and returned countless mattresses over these years with no success. I’m in the process of trying to get layers for an all foam DIY.
Whatever it is it needs to be soft. This might be one of those scenarios where all the high density foams they talk about in this subreddit might be too dense for you to even imprint reasonably, so might be better off with a lower end version of something than the mid or high end (like a Sealy Posturepedic Plus instead of the Pro or Elite lines, for a less dense foam and skipping the extra lumbar support). Otherwise if you're going higher end probably something with some sort of fluffy wool or cotton pillow top. I definitely agree with the head boss of this subreddit though, that the best thing anyone can do before buying a mattress is going to one of those big mattress stores to actually try some stuff and see what you actually like. And if you find something you love for the right price, then you don't have to worry about mattresses anymore.
I had a posturepedic sealy from Costco that lasted a good 6 years before going to shit. Always had a topper though. I wouldn’t buy a mattress from Costco again no matter what the brand is
I went with the best Costco had at the time which was a Sealy and then added a 3 inch memory foam topper. I sleep in all positions...side, stomach, back and it's very comfortable. Now I need really deep pocket sheets, but that's manageable.
