Have you been to any major or luxury hotels lately? If so all their bed sets are available through their websites. I stayed in a kimpton a couple of year ago and really liked the bed. Checked the pillow and mattress tags and it pointed to a website. Bought the mattress and topper, and I’m loving my sleep. I checked all the hotels I stayed at since, and they all have the same availability to buy their bed sets. Looking to get the four seasons bed next time. P.s. The other benefit of this route is that you can try the beds by booking a couple of stays, before shelling out the money.
Have the helix elite sunset for 3 months and very happy, had a sealy luxury firm before so I thought I wanted a firmer mattress, turns out there is no industry standard for firmness and the soft was what I found the most comfortable. Really happy with my decision, also love the fact you can unzip and replace the foam layer if you aren’t satisfied with the firmness instead of having to replace the whole mattress. Hope this is helpful
Omg! I have a lot to say. I recently upgraded to a mattress that addresses my need for lumbar support, the Sealy Posturepedic® Ashurst II 13" Firm Mattress, and it's extremely solid and supporting... I wake up feeling really good physically after having major back and spine pain issues last year, which is so worth it in and of itself. In terms of comforters, I buy real down comforter from Landsend or LL Bean (Company Store has some too), I typically buy sheets and duvet covers from the same places, and I've found that changing the sheets every two weeks or so helps to keep everything feeling really comfortable and fresh. The final thing is that I sleep with two down pillows stacked (so four down pillows on a double bed), which both makes the bed look good and feel nice to sleep in.
I’m curious why you would sink into a firm more than you would a medium, it should be the opposite if I’m not mistaken. In regards to your other questions, from what I learned while researching for the mattress I just bought, it’s based off both personal preference and how you sleep. If you’re a side sleeper you should get a softer mattress. I only sleep on my back and on my side and the medium firm I bought has been great
Bought a Sealy Posturepedic Plus about 4 years ago and love(d) it until we noticed some sagging last year. It’s unfortunately gotten worse no matter how many times we’ve rotated it. Hubby and I are light weights and we travel about half the year so we estimate 50% the normal usage? Lets hope their warranty is fair. Our friends bought Casper around the same time and they’ve had no issues. I read that if you buy it online they will pick up for free if needed, so maybe consider online.
Yeah man, I hear that. I’ve been having problems from an overloaded delivery route for the last 10 years. I returned a firm Sealy posturpedic plus a while back, the previous model to these newer ones. And I’ve tried and returned countless mattresses over these years with no success. I’m in the process of trying to get layers for an all foam DIY.
Whatever it is it needs to be soft. This might be one of those scenarios where all the high density foams they talk about in this subreddit might be too dense for you to even imprint reasonably, so might be better off with a lower end version of something than the mid or high end (like a Sealy Posturepedic Plus instead of the Pro or Elite lines, for a less dense foam and skipping the extra lumbar support). Otherwise if you're going higher end probably something with some sort of fluffy wool or cotton pillow top. I definitely agree with the head boss of this subreddit though, that the best thing anyone can do before buying a mattress is going to one of those big mattress stores to actually try some stuff and see what you actually like. And if you find something you love for the right price, then you don't have to worry about mattresses anymore.
I got the posturepedic (medium firmness) and my partner and I both love it. It’s on the firmer side so if you like that it’s a great mattress at a great price. It also comes with a 10 year warranty through sealy.
