Hi! Would so appreciate some advice. I made a huge mistake and bought a mattress and base in a rush. All past mattress purchases were refundable but, I missed that Mattress Firm charges a $250 fee to return. Unfortunately, the mattress is so painful. It's been just over 30 days and barely slept 4 hours each night so far. it feels like the mattress has areas that have painful lumps but, there is nothing visible showing that. I've added 3 mattress toppers as well as mattress pads on it but, it's still so painful every night. It's the worst mattress l've ever had. it does NOT feel like the one in the store. I went back to Mattress Firm and the Salesman kindly told me to come back when the Manager is working she might be able to waive the $250 fee. I was hoping to get another Mattress that was just on sale as the discounts were so great but, there is nothing sale seems to have passed. Is there any advice to get the fee waived? Am I going to have to also pay another $150 to pick it up? I live less than a mile from the store. I spent way too much. Will the $250 return fee be less likely be waived if I buy a less expensive mattress? If so, are there any mattresses under $500 that you recommend? Stupidly, i also bought the adjustable bed and I read on the receipt that they are not returnable either. Plus, I did the leasing that was offered. I made so many mistakes with this. Any help would be so appreciated. I'm a 70% side sleeper and 30% back sleeper. The salesman suggested that I go for the sealy's medium firm with a pillow top that is a top seller and is around $549. Any thoughts? The following is what I did purchase. THANK YOU in advance! Sealy PressureSmart Firm 11.5" Mattress Full. $1,499. Sale $999.99 Signature Adjustable Base Adjustable Full. $849. Sale $500. Delivery Fee = $149.99
I think you are 1000000% correct! I doubt the PressureSmart firm is going to soften up. I really was just looking for a normal mattress. I made a huge mistake. I went in there exhausted, in deep need of a mattress asap. I usually do so much homework on almost everything I buy so this was such a mistake! I went in to the store asking for the best inexpensive mattress under $500. Somehow, I ended up ‘leasing’ the PressureSmart with an adjustable frame. My mistake. So stupid of me as the return fee is $250. When so many places do free returns nowadays. I had no idea this is such a complex and complicated purchase. I loved the Temperpedic. Thats way out of my budget though. There was a Sealy Hybrid but i thought this rundown here had mentioned they get hot or something. I have to re-read it. If only I had read it before buying anything! Would have saved a lot of time and painful nights! Do you happen to know of a great mattress under $500? Mostly, side sleeper and sometimes back sleeper. THANK YOU so much for taking the time to reply! I really appreciate it!
I got Sealy pressure smart firm from Mattress Firm. I have back issues and Im a back sleeper. It hurt at first cause the mattress I tried in store was broken down for a few years so it felt soft. The mattress that was delivered to me felt like a rock. It took me at-least 2 weeks to feel okay and I topped it with ultra-soft mattress topper which made a lot of difference. I was told that you can make firmer mattress less firm by adding padding etc but other way round is not possible
Definitely NOT memory foam. I bought a TempurPedic mattress, and never had worse hip and lower back pain than after sleeping on that. It's now in my guest bedroom, and I sleep comfortably on a nice firm traditional mattress made by Sealy.
Same. Also bought a full sized firm Sealy innerspring and box spring, delivered along with my Novaform. The Sealy has also held up really well.
I suggest staying AWAY from firm and depending on your weight, possibly even staying away from medium firm. Depending on your weight, you might try the 12" Zinus Green Tea Cooling Memory Foam medium mattress. *If you order it direct from Zinus, they offer a 100 night guarantee We recently slept on this mattress for 60+days while in temporary housing and neither of us had back/hip issues and we slept amazing and solid through the nights. We are both lightweight (126 & 175lb) side sleepers. Also, our backs / hips never bother us when sleeping on Marriott brand hotel mattresses. Firm and medium firm traditional and memory foam mattresses have ALWAYS caused us problems. We have tried: -Traditional individually coiled firm Sealy Posturepedic -14" Medium Firm Novaform -12" Comfort Tech Serene (husband accidentally ordered firm instead of medium and we kept it instead of returning it) All those mattresses have caused us issues. I did further research and narrowed it down to needing either a medium Memory Foam or Medium Plush Hybrid. The medium plush hybrid would closer match what the hotels use so we're in the decision process of which to purchase.
