I have the Serta icomfort medium firm hybrid and it's probably what you are looking for. My husband has a terrible back and we both love it. Our last mattress was a pillow top and I can't believe I slept on that for 18 years
My wife and I had bought a Sealy iComfort mattress but after about two years it was softer than a marshmallow and was wrecking our backs. I used to do some contract work for a smallish but nationwide maker of foam memory beds and pillows. I went to my client contact and asked him what he thought about the situation, and if he had any suggestions. He said EVERY memory foam bed (including the ones his company makes) will get softer over time. He said the only ones bed he knew of that didn't do that was Tempurpedic. He said despite where he worked, he actually slept on a Sleep Number bed. My wife and I ended up shelling out for a Tempurpedic, and it's been a pretty darned good mattress for about 10 years. Meanwhile, my mother got a Sleep Number bed that was later passed to our son when she moved into assisted living. That thing is awesome.
Can I just say. I think your best bet is probably Costco or Sam's. They have an excellent return policy so if you hate it, return it. That being said quite a few mattress companies will allow you to buy it and if you hate it return it. Sometimes they don't even want it back and will ask you to donate to a local shelter. I personally went with a hybrid by serta and medium. I actually love it . And you can always throw a topper on yours and make minor changes to the comfort level. This can all be done if you piece out your bed. Their are motorized bed frames that can really benefit you . You could get a split mattress so you can get a 0g bed and on the cheap.
Wife and I got a Serta Icomfort and don't regret it. However I can't sleep for shit in hotels anymore.
Best mattress I ever had was the serta icomfort.
That's what I got. Still a little hip pain but so far it's the best I've tried. Might get tempur pedic or purple after reading this thread! Just tell me i don't need the $10, 000 purple. Saw that at Mattress firm and couldn't believe anyone was spending that much.
I have a split king adjustable base and mattress from Tempur-pedic. The model is pro support. Ive had it for 1.5 years, but because of my health problems, it gets heavy use. Best bed I've ever had. I picked a slightly firmer mattress than I otherwise would've because I knew it would get heavy use. It is very comfortable, and I am a hot sleeper. I use bamboo or lyocell sheets and 100% cotton blankets and have no trouble. My husband also loves his bed. He melts into it every night and is snoring in no time..lol. Neither of us wake with sore bodies. This isnt the first memory foam bed we've owned, as we previously had a Serta icomfort from 2016-2024. It was wonderful, and my son owns it now. The full memory foam bed is no longer made by them. Edit to say that i have my adjustable bases inside of a wonderful bed off Wayfair. You just get a frame that doesn't have the inner slats. https://preview.redd.it/swvg9bev9fmf1.jpeg?width=2585&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ccbfbc02879d41cd5fc4ce52632db844f987ca1
I'm fat too, and so is my husband. We have had our mattress, a Serta Hybrid King size, bought from Sams Club online for 11 years. It has just begun to give us issues in that because it is hybrid, you can't flip them, and you can just rotate them. But 11 years is a good, long time for a king-size bed. We paid just over $500 back then. Yesterday, we went with the same bed, except decided to go a bit more firm than medium, and paid just over $900, including taxes and shipping; also from Sams Club online. Oh, and the frame is a metal frame bought off Amazon for $160, so no box spring is needed. There are good ones out there, i promise. Good luck!
We got a Bloom guests sleep on occasionally (mostly our parents when they come to visit), and our young child sleeps on regularly. Everyone who has slept on it (including one who had a recent hip replacement) has commented how well/comfortably they slept. Meanwhile, my partner and I spent a decent chunk of money on a Serta hybrid and it is unfortunately not what I envisioned.
I just bought a serta queen and it is short by 4 inches all around. The sheets do not fit. What a joke.
