Me and my wife are loving our iSeries 4500 plush hybrid been on it for about 3 months now. We switched from a split Tempur my side was a Rhapsody Luxe (firm) hers was a Cloud Luxe (soft) the iSeries is more of a medium. I thought it was going to be a big adjustment for us especially for me because I typically like firmer but it’s been great it’s also a little easier to move around in than the Tempur. Great combination of pressure relief and support and I can’t feel her move at all at night. Top beds I sell with low exchange rates I would show you if you were in my store would be The Tempur Luxe Adapt Medium Hybrid, for people who prefer traditional feel Sterns and Foster Lux Estate Medium Elite. But there are a ton of options out there my advice would be go to a store and look, find what you like and what you dislike then ask for feedback on those specific mattresses or for similar feels you should look at.

I’m 6’1 250. Recently got a tempur pedic medium firm luxe breeze. After finding the right foundation for it the slight sinking we had went away and I’ve been sleeping well. Before that I had a Serta I series medium with memory foam and it worked great too. Only other bed I’ve tried was a firm box spring which worked but I woke up still feeling tired. The other was a box spring with a memory foam topper which was also great and the cost was obviously much cheaper than a full memory foam

My current bed is a 6 year old Serta iseries hybrid (medium firm) and is already lumpy. I tried putting a 1.5 inch memory foam topper and then separately tried a 4.5 inch memory topper but both left me feeling unsupported. It’s been a few months now of trial and error and I’m very exhausted physically and emotionally. I’m 5 ft tall, 120lbs and my husband is 5’9” and 180 lbs. I’m 6 months postpartum from my second c section and have two under two currently. Caring for my kiddos all day long and nursing my baby exclusively has done a number on my upper back. It’s been so painful I can’t sleep most nights. I put a pillow between my legs and hug a pillow as well to help with my shoulder impingement and tight traps. I love my head pillow, it’s the Eden COOP pillow with adjustable memory foam fill. All that context aside, here is my current dilemma: I made the mistake of asking Chat GPT what mattress to order and I ended up with a Birch natural latex mattress. I woke up today feeling like I got hit by a truck. Insane headache and my trap and shoulder pain was so intense my husband took the day off work to take care of the kids so I could rest on our old mattress. Maybe I’m too light for latex, not sure how it went so terribly wrong. They’re sending me a plush topper but I’m not very hopeful. On my own research I found Back Science and then from word of mouth from other petite ladies was recommended Sleep Number. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice for me? I read on this thread that all mattresses are designed for broad shouldered men so are we petite mamas just screwed? Feeling very frustrated and helpless at this point.

Great thank you for that great suggestion. My husband is a tummy sleeper and loves a soft surface so if we got the helix elite would you still suggest we get different inserts? I’m going to not buy anything now like you said but when that time comes, I was leaning towards buying from a mattress store (more mom and pop) so they can give me a more customized mattress and I am concerned about longevity. On this Reddit I’ve read so much about sagging and mattresses failing after just a couple years (Helix included). It’s making me think I need to go with a more personal company that treats me more as the priority and not a number and doesn’t ship me a mattress in a box. I saw Back Science has a great 30 year warranty so that eases my fears about it getting lumpy or uneven spots quickly. I’m in Sacramento and also found Sacramento Valley Mattress that makes custom mattresses. We have a solid adjustable base (got for free from mattress firm when we bought this Serta originally) so hopefully if we bought from a mom and pop store or even Helix, the mattress structure woukdnt be compromised but I have just been seeing so much complaining on this Reddit I feel a little at a loss and not sure which companies to trust have my best interest. I’m already annoyed with Birch that I have to pay a $100 restocking fee, that sleep trial doesn’t feel “risk free” like they advertised.

In my experience, worth it. I have a serta iseries in my guest room that feels like prison (lad to add a latex topper). Owned a naturpedic latex mattress (expensive) and now a tempurpedic proadapt (expensive) and I sleep like a baby. My only regret is not doing the more expensive luxadapt for the extra pressure relief

Can I just say. I think your best bet is probably Costco or Sam's. They have an excellent return policy so if you hate it, return it. That being said quite a few mattress companies will allow you to buy it and if you hate it return it. Sometimes they don't even want it back and will ask you to donate to a local shelter. I personally went with a hybrid by serta and medium. I actually love it . And you can always throw a topper on yours and make minor changes to the comfort level. This can all be done if you piece out your bed. Their are motorized bed frames that can really benefit you . You could get a split mattress so you can get a 0g bed and on the cheap.

I'm fat too, and so is my husband. We have had our mattress, a Serta Hybrid King size, bought from Sams Club online for 11 years. It has just begun to give us issues in that because it is hybrid, you can't flip them, and you can just rotate them. But 11 years is a good, long time for a king-size bed. We paid just over $500 back then. Yesterday, we went with the same bed, except decided to go a bit more firm than medium, and paid just over $900, including taxes and shipping; also from Sams Club online. Oh, and the frame is a metal frame bought off Amazon for $160, so no box spring is needed. There are good ones out there, i promise. Good luck!

Purple has a 10 year Warranty so your current mattress did its job. I previously had a Serta Hybrid that had really bad off-gassing and I couldn't sleep on it for a couple of weeks. It was lovely to sleep on until it wasn't. It was dead after 4 years. I'm not a large person. It also was very hot to sleep on.

I'm also extremely sensitive to scents. Just purchased a Purple Restore Cool Touch, no scent issues. Slept on it the first night. When I purchased the hybrid mattress and couldn't sleep on it for weeks, I had to keep the bedroom door shut due to the toxic scent. Bedroom windows were open, fan in the window to suck the scent out and had to sleep elsewhere. It ended up being very comfortable, but like I said, after 4 years it was dead which is unacceptable. Good luck on your search. The Purple is interesting. It's not a decadent bed by any means, but I had that and it didn't last. Bedding in the last 15 or so years is just overpriced junk. I honestly would prefer an old regular mattress that can be flipped along with really old metal bed springs that never die. They squeeked, but were great.

We got a Bloom guests sleep on occasionally (mostly our parents when they come to visit), and our young child sleeps on regularly. Everyone who has slept on it (including one who had a recent hip replacement) has commented how well/comfortably they slept. Meanwhile, my partner and I spent a decent chunk of money on a Serta hybrid and it is unfortunately not what I envisioned.
