My last temperpedic was garbage. At 2 years it had hills and valleys. God, I was horrified at how much money we spent in the last 10 years on mattresses. Problem solved. We bought a latex mattress. 13" king from SleepEZ. The Natural was 2250. The Organic was 2550. They are customizable and there's a 20 year (for real) warranty. Got a dip or a divot? They send you another layer and they pay for you to send the other back. No off gassing, no formaldehyde or chemicals. You can get Talalay layers for the "sinking" feeling . Call SleepEZ customer service, tell them your height/weight and preferred squishiness. Good luck.

I should have been more clear. I bought The Natural King, 13". I rounded the price to $2250. My husband is 68, like you. We know that this will be our last mattress purchase.
You do NOT need to spend $3k to get a great mattress. We just replaced (yet another), very expensive ($3k) mattress with a Latex bed from SleepEZ. Memory foam has gone downhill in quality, its full of chemicals, off gasses, fills up landfills, etc. It's pure trash. I dont know where you live, but if you cant try a latex bed out, I recommend you call SleepEZ, or Latex Mattress Factory, or Latex for Less. Talk to customer service. They can help you understand what you need based on weight / height. Get educated on the bs that mattress shopping is. Its a GRIFT! Our new mattress was $2250, and we know without a doubt that it'll last 15/20 years (warranteed) and then some. I know this 100%. I've had a latex mattress before. Stop falling for the hype. Honest to God, these crappy memory foam mattresses are a scourge.
Maybe its time to re think memory foam. Its crap, and the quality has only gotten worse since covid. Look into latex. You wont have to return it, its customizable. SleepEZ, Sleep on Latex, Latex for Less, Latex Mattress Factory. No off gassing, totally natural product, no b.s. Or buy one of the ones you mentioned, and in 2 years you'll be back here looking for another mattress. How do I know? I bought all of those, spent a fortune and was mad as hell every time they wouldn't honor their warranties. I FINALLY talked my husband into going the latex route. No more problems. We're set for the next 20 years. Good luck. Choose wisely. The struggle is real.
My SleepEZ mattress is mostly Dunlop. I returned the top layer for a Talalay layer. (That's the greatest thing about these beds...they are 100% customizable.) My husband's side is very firm. He loves it. My side is now perfect and we've got a 20 year warranty. Got a divot or a sag? Call the company and they'll exchange a layer. Its that easy. Im done spending a fortune only to have the memory foam fail in less than 2 years. Side note: My mom had a latex bed around 1950. It became mine in the 60's. I used it till 1989. That same mattress is now sitting in a spare room in New England.
The price they charge has ZERO to do with quality or durability. Its a scam. All of them are b.s. I've had a $5k mattress fall apart in 3 years. Ive had a $3k mattress last 2 years (several times). My bestie spent $3k last Fall. The bed is worthless now with hills and valleys (yes, 6 months later) Another spent $4,500. All the stitching came out, and the Serta people won't do a thing about it. Memory foam is garbage, full of chemicals. Its made very cheaply now, not like 20 years back. We spent A LOT of money in 10 years on mattresses. No more. Look into latex. SleepEZ, Sleep on Latex, Latex for Less. Do some research. Good luck to you.
I recognize it’s from SleepEZ immediately from the labels. I’d say give it some time first and see how your body adapts. I bought a mattress from them a month ago and just finally felt everything is in good shape recently (after some layer change). My first night on the Extra Firm top layer was like sleeping on the floor. It softened a little bit after some days, but I ended up having a medium topper for comfort on top of the very firm base.
$1900 for a king size in 2021. SleepEZ organic latex and it was worth it. I came from a 15 year old memory foam that was probably about the same price adjusted for inflation, and the memory foam was probably comfortable for my back, but far worse for extracurricular activities with my wife.
For support, latex is the better choice. But since you're pretty lightweight, you'll likely need soft latex foam - either soft Dunlop latex (denser, supportive) or soft Talalay latex (less denser, more cushioning). We’re sleeping on latex from sleepEZ and our current configuration is extra firm and firm (both Dunlop) and a medium Talalay as the top layer. We’ve been sleeping on these mattresses for about 2 to 3 months now. They have softened up considerably I would say. I’m even considering switching and putting the firm one on top of the Talalay because I like a firmer mattress.
We have had good luck with SleepEZ. They are super helpful if you call them and you can customize your organic mattress by choosing the layers. You can also split them if you have a partner who wants a different configuration. The mattress cover is really well made and we can replace a layer if needed. I also like that we can flip the layers periodically to help extend the lifespan of the mattress. And because the layers can separate, it’s so much easier to move. Otherwise, a latex mattress is extremely heavy and floppy.
We went with SleepEz and had a great experience. They are a small company and the employees are really knowledgeable and helpful. We both like firm mattresses and we went with extra 3 inch extra firm and 3 inch firm organic Dunlop and a 2 inch medium Talalay for the top layer. I recommend getting the layers split even if you both want the same firmness level. The advantages to this is: 1 the are much easier to maneuver them because latex is so heave, 2 They are easier to swap out I’d one of you needs a change, and finally, they are easier to flip them to allow for more even wear.
I have the Sleep EZ in the same firm-medium-soft configuration. All the layers are dunlop. It took a couple nights to get used to falling asleep on it. We were used to sleeping on a softer Talalay. From the first night, I felt better when I woke up. It has been about three weeks now, and I really love the mattress. Hopefully, you will adjust. If not, call SleepEZ.and see what they suggest.
To me having all natural latex layers that I can customize per sleeper or replace later was a huge bonus with the Sleep EZ. We love ours.
I love my latex bed. Will never have any other kind of
I bought a Dunlop latex mattress - softest Dunlop available and it was too firm, but I added a 3" 14 ILD Talalay topper and it made everything perfect for me. I bought my mattress from a small store in Roanoke Virginia, not one of the big box or mattress in a box latex mattresses. A few years after I bought mine, my husband's waterbed sprung a leak (fun times, that - NOT). He liked my latex mattress, and was able to buy a latex mattress from Sleep on Latex, an online vendor, and he loves it as much as I love my mattress.
I have the same mattress, but from their sister company - Latex Mattress factory. The thing about latex is that it is hard to get the right configuration for support when back sleeping, and contour when side sleeping. We felt that 9" of latex was just way too hard no matter how we tried to move around the layers. When we tried two 3" soft layers on top - there was no support and we got terrible back pain. As recommended, try the topmost soft layer out side the cover tonight to see if that helps. The wool and cotton cover really doesn't allow much contouring. If ultimately it is still too firm, consider getting a cheap 2" foam topper until the mattress breaks in or consider getting 2 medium Sleep on Latex slabs to keep inside the cover, and a Sleep on Latex topper cover to keep the topmost talalay layer outside. The SOL medium is firmer that the SEZ/LMF medium, and is a nice transition between your firm and medium layers. Latex push back is real and awkward to get used to no matter what you do
