After struggling with shitty mattresses that sag, my wife and I took a gamble on a latex mattress. SleepOnLatex firm mattress it’s been wonderful and looks and feels brand new after a year. The edge support on latex isn’t incredible but I sleep on my side near the edge, and I do not roll off. However the longevity of latex is allegedly amazing. No stupid springs to break on you. Apparently some last for decades. The company has a 10 yr warranty.
I have SOL firm and I love it. Just my two cents: latex mattress not sold in stores so hard to decide. Order latex samples from every company and you will see. SOL has the most dense firm latex mattress as I recall when I ordered samples. I found their samples the best for my needs so that’s why I have SOL firm.
I have the all latex from SOL. Reach out to their customer service, they are very helpful with recommendations. I don’t like coils at all (but it might be just me), I had Tempurpedic for over 10 years, I hated. I sleep on my back and side as well, but because it is firm latex usually I end up on my back most of the night.
Double-sided is great. Only 2 inches of latex per side is not. This is basically an inner spring mattress with a 2 inch topper. Except you can't replace the topper, and when the coils sag, the mattress is ruined. I know they can cost more, but a full latex bed with removable and swappable layers is a much better option. "It's a more expensive mattress than our all-foam mattress" WOW. Pay more get a bed that won't last as long and that is not customizable. That stinks.
I can second this post with my experiences so far with Foam Factory in terms of the smell, I didn't detect any smell from my purchase after letting the foam sit for 2 days in larger space. I got a 5" block of HD36. And the 1" of dunlop I got from them has the typical dunlop light smell (vaguely vanilla?) I smelled from the Sleeponlatex dunlop I've bought in the past.
I don’t know if it’s BIFL, but I got this latex mattress off amazon this summer and I absolutely love it. It keeps me so much cooler than my previous one. The medium firmness that I got is incredibly firm so take that into consideration. Prices range from $800 to $1800. I did a lot of research and discovered a latex would fit my needs best. Looking for a lower priced latex or latex hybrid, no memory foam or materials that off gas harmful chemicals. I already have a soft 2 inch Talalay topper that I purchased last year. It is heaven. It is currently on top of a 20 +yr old style spring mattress. So, I'm assuming I don't really need a plush comfort layer on top. And want a company that makes returns easy. I've looked at Awara, Happsy, Sleep on Latex, My Green Mattress, Latex Mattress Factory, Turmerry. Have had good experience dealing with Sleep on Latex and Latex Mattress Factory (the topper I sleep on). I prefer 10 inches or less. On the low end Awara has a full size right now for $699...which is a great price. But full latex mattresses can have greater longevity and are better for allergies (mine are bad) so may be worth the extra cost. Sleep on Latex has full size for $1199. I bought my topper cover from them and also tried one of their toppers. By far the best customer service i've encountered among all the mattress companies I contacted.
Appreciate your comment and you definitely makes sense. I have looked around and at some point just have to try one. But just read another thread today that mentioned a company called Sleeping Organic which i had not heard of despite some really thorough research last year. They sell same size mattress at same price as S.O.L..(only because they don't charge tax). Theirs is a customizable mattress that comes in 3 heights with dunlop and talalay layers of different densities with a zip off cover to swap things. So, that is a worthwhile option that I didn't know of. And why Reddit is so helpful!
Thanks, yeah I have been leaning toward starting there as they have been so good to work with and their mattress is only 8 inches. Thanks!
