This is so crazy, I just came here to say I just went through this exact experience 2 weeks ago, was overwhelmed and ended up with a stearns and foster estate firm and I’m obsessed
They're a great value, yes, but I got a Stearns Foster Estate Firm from Costco and its still a hybrid that sinks after a few minutes. By morning theres a huge trough that you have to roll out of. We first got a Sealy that was more memory foam than coils, imo. Tried that for a month and then upgraded to the Stearns and Foster but both were super soft feeling. I just want a CA King mattress thats like an old fashioned coil and padding (minimual foam, esp memory types) type that lasts like my old ones used to. When I was young my mattress never changed for 20 years. Where are those mattresses???!! **Edit: 2 Months later: I've now gone through every non box mattress at Costco and just initiated the return on the last one. (beautyrest something or other) I then remembered that Macy's Home stores used to have mattresses and I hadnt been there in a while. I think I might have found my mattress!! I'm going back later today to get one. While they have the usual hybrid/tempurpedic crap I counted 8 mattresses that would be counted as an old fashioned coil/innerspring non foam mattresses. They bounce when you bounce on them. I don't sink 6 inches into them. I might be able to sleep on them without sweating all night!! Wish me luck! I'll update again!**
I got to try it out locally first :) I tried the S&F Estate and the DreamStar and could hardly tell the difference between the two. The DreamStar was quite a bit cheaper. We had ordered the Douglas Alpine without trying it and ended up returning it. It was just too firm for me, I experienced shoulder, and across the back pain. We just bought it in August, so time will tell. Ours did come with a 15 year warranty though.
I'm no expert, and I saw some other folks mention a few things. My Stearns & Foster is the best mattress I've ever owned, and it's not close. $4k-ish, and firm. I'm a big guy, my wife isn't small, and we moved from a medium to a firm, and couldn't be happier. I have no brand allegiance, just happens to be the most expensive one I've owned, and definitely the best for me.
Why do you hate it?! We literally just bought one for our guest bedroom to replace the S&F I bought in 2014 (fav mattress ever) but it hasn’t been delivered yet. We went with the firm.
Stearns & Foster if you want a traditional luxury mattress. Pricey, but amazing craftsmanship.
I wonder if you got a lemon . Our stern and foster from 2019 is still perfect That said I love love love the Marriott mattress and plan to buy that as our next one
I have gone through 7 beds in last 4.5 years 2 Beautyrests, Blackice, 2 Stearns and Foster firm and Luxury Firm, 2 Sertas different models all have sagged ranging from. Starting 2 weeks to 3 months I'm 200# 5'10" I feel like I melt these things. I'm a side sleeper. Have no idea what to go to next seems hybrids are worst anything with foam is worst. Have minimal plush top a d lots of innersprings. .issues the old days when just springs and fabric. Can use suggestions
I’ve had a Stearns & Foster hybrid for about 4 years. Still feels like the first day. Definitely built to last.
Hate my Stearns and Foster. After 18 months it caved in on the top left side. I switch it around same problem on the one side. Garbage and not great customer service
