This. I recently got fed up with a less than year old Steart and Foster quilted Luxory Firm. After about z6 months it softened to the point of being uncomfortable for stomach sleeping. Just took a box cutter and took off the quilted layer. Immediate relief. Under the quilted layer, there was a cheap 1 inch layer of some kind of memory foam, a layer of large micro coils, and roughly 2 inches of some kind of cheap poly foam. Then the coils. There isn’t anything special about these beds. And what feels good in the store might not feel good a year later. The foam they use breaks down fast. Knowing what I know now I would have just build my own for probably 1/5 the price.

We have a brand new Stearns & Foster Estate pillowtop mattress and absolutely love it! We have one at our vacation home as well, but initially tried to cheap out. We definitely got what we paid for.

I tried some others including Saatva, but went back to Stearns and Foster. Happy now.

Sterns and Foster. I gave mine away to my nephew to upgrade to a king. I got roll out mattress off Amazon. I hate it. I put a temperpedic mattress topper on it that helps. Go to a mattress store and lay on the mattresses, that is how I discovered Sterns and Foster. They aren't cheap but they aren't Temperpedic expensive.

I’ve had a Stearns & Foster hybrid for about 4 years. Still feels like the first day. Definitely built to last.

Hate my Stearns and Foster. After 18 months it caved in on the top left side. I switch it around same problem on the one side. Garbage and not great customer service

r/FrugalBest mattress under 1000 dollars that actually last? I'm done with fugazis/lemons

Hybrid is the way to go for support and longevity. But under $1000 is a very low price point for a mattress. I doubt many at that price will hold up over time. I’ve had very good luck with Stearns & Foster mattresses. They last about 20 years with daily use, but they start in the $2-2.5k range. Most mattress stores have sales around holidays, so that can save you some serious money since it’s a big ticket item.

Stearns & Foster. Their mattresses are also high quality and last for decades with no discernible wear.

Stearns & Foster. They last 20-25 years easy.

Kirkland sterns and foster has been great over the last 4 years. It is medium firm and not flippable. There was a week to two week process of adjusting to a more firm mattress.
