Not Costco related…. We had a tempurpedic and it was killing my back as a stomach sleeper. We went to the mattress store and yes, you can’t truly test for 8 hours but I knew the second we laid on one that it was it. We got a Firm Stearns and Foster Reserve and it’s absolutely incredible. All my hip and back pain is gone.
Same situ here…we opted for a S&F Reserve pillow top king, after liking their floor model….the one we received is FAR too firm. I WISH we could find a top line for $4000!! We pay extra for island shipping costs…paid $6500!! Going back in today to ask for the SOFT pillow top king reserve , after taking directly to S&F. Love to get a shot at the Custom one…you can buy from Marriot supplier??
Not really they are usually stacked. I pull out the one I wanted and we laid on it. Lol Sooner Surplus is a hidden treasure. My mattess is Stearns and Foster 6K range and I paid $500!!
4k foster and sterns king, including the box springs…. I could sleep on the floor but my wife is happy…that’s all that matters…

Most important is return, replace policy. (Sample 5 from Costco?) You cannot understand any modern mattress in the store. In that sense, every store is Costco. All require sleep test 30 days min, 90 better. We returned S&F Reserve $5k slept very hot. (Was fab in store.) Got LuxAdapt Med Hybrid, it’s day 20 and sleeps better each night. Started rather firm. Does not over heat so far this winter. Do check out 3rd party resellers. See starsluckysales and others on eBay. (Plainly violates my return priority.) LuxAdapt Hybrid is very different from Adapt Hybrid and ProAdapt Hybrid. Dramatically different construction. For us, well worth upgrade, but ProAdapt (hybrid?) is their best seller. I believe due price difference. I’m 200 side, wife 160 side, we both love the LuxAdapt Med Hybrid.
It definitely broke in a bit at 30 days. Got even more comfortable. I understand from other Reddits that it will continue to change slightly up to six months. Seems about right. Also understand the room temp plays a role. We’re windows cracked in 45 degree nights. Be curious how more moderate nights and AC affect it. I feel very confident about all so far. The LuxeAdapt is very different from ProAdapt and then add in the 1400 dual springs. It amazes me the effect you get from only 4.7” of foam. 8.3” of springs must play a role too. But drive your knee into the all foam medium LuxeAdapt, it takes 30-45 seconds to rebound. Hybrid in 15 seconds.
I have 3 month old TempurPedic LuxeAdapt Med Hybrid. After baking, we sleep hot, in S&F Reserve, this TempurPedic has been a god send. 4.7” made up of 3 different TempurPedic foams with top layer featuring dime sized holes, it’s just about perfect heat and firmness. Rest is 15.5 gauge springs on top of 15 gauge springs. If the LuxeAdapt is cool, I hope the Breeze is too. 2 contradictory points. The most important thing about a mattress is the return policy. In store visits are 80% useless. You MUST test out at least 30 days. Second, check out 3rd party resellers on eBay. Starsluckysales for one. Half off or better, but no return. All those returned mattresses (like my S&F Reserve) end up somewhere. You’ve slept on used mattresses before. Hotel? Air B&B?
Stearns and Foster does, they actually used to sew their initials for the ‘tuft.’ That was about 15 years ago.
It depends on what type someone is getting. I never see hybrids or memory foams tufted, but their traditional pocketed coils are tufted. If you google ‘Stearns and foster tufted’ you’ll get a lot of images. S&F has been owned by Sealy for decades and still is. They hand make their mattresses in Medina Ohio.
Like I said, this was about 15 years ago. I was at their factory and saw them tuft it myself.
I'm no expert, and I saw some other folks mention a few things. My Stearns & Foster is the best mattress I've ever owned, and it's not close. $4k-ish, and firm. I'm a big guy, my wife isn't small, and we moved from a medium to a firm, and couldn't be happier. I have no brand allegiance, just happens to be the most expensive one I've owned, and definitely the best for me.
I invested in a Sterns and Foster super firm 4” pillow top, on a frame instead of box springs. The pillow top is soft and comfortable along with the super firm mattress. I caught it on sale for $1,400 a few years ago. Great for my back.
I have a Sterns and Foster super firm with the 4” pillow top. Absolutely love it.
