my old tempurpedic contour elite was the best mattress I have ever had. now I have saatva contour 5 medium and I like it. I’m lighter weight. heavier weights might prefer firm

The Costco Tempur is made with older materials and an older formula than the newer models, so it’ll run a bit warmer as well and have a bit more firmness to it, but less overall support. Good option for the price plus costcos great return policy, but not as good as what you can get.

This. It sucks but the best thing to do is go spend an hour at least trying out different beds in person. If you go off only bad reviews you will never find a new bed. Find a store that has good reviews about the salespeople there, and let them guide you. They are there to help. Helping you helps them make money, so it’s in their best interests to get it right the first time. Understand certain bed’s quirks, like tempur-pedics take time to break in, Beauty Rest Black have been get lots of returns etc.

My first two mattresses with Costco (traditional spring based) were duds. The first one started sagging within a couple years, the next one within a couple months. (Yes, they are on a box spring). Earlier this year, I splurged for a temperpedic with Costco, about $1800. It's been a dream, literally. The return policy makes it all worth it. Even the mattress that was like 2.5 years old, they picked it up and gave me my money back, no questions asked. Truly a risk-free guarantee. Edit to add: I also have a Costco mattress in my guest room, but that's rarely used so can't comment on durability.

I’m not a hot sleeper and I was sweating like crazy in the helix we tried. It’s going back, way too soft for me. Got a Tempurpedic from Costco instead at the same price, much happier with that
