Hi Derek! I hope you're still answering questions, thanks for all the info you've given so far! My wife and I are mattress shopping and it's getting to be a bit much! We have a 12-or-so year old Tempurpedic Firm, which has now developed a big dip in the middle on my side. We've laid on Sleep Number, Tempurpedic, Sealy and Beautyrest at our local stores. We're planning on getting a split Cal King, so I don't disturb her in the night. I was quite taken with the Tempur Adapt medium hybrid, and that seems to be the ticket for me, but we also tried an "Ashley Furniture exclusive" from Sealy called the Princeton II. She liked the Euro Pillow Top Soft and I thought the Tight Top Firm was ok (feels similar to the Tempur adapt). To the point: This "exclusive" looks on the inside like some of their other models, which you have reviewed negatively. Do you have any experience with the Princeton line, or do you think Sealy's Hybrids are all pretty bad for the money? This one is $2199 for a Queen! Thanks!
I can tell you I bought an on sale Tempur-Pedic Hybrid Adapt medium-firm and it is the worst mattress I’ve ever slept on. They don’t allow returns on the discounted purchase. They told me it would feel nearly identical to the pro-adapt. I’m screwed.
I like it. I wish it was a TAD firmer as I like to kind of lay on the bed and not sink into it. I sleep well and don’t wake up with severe back pain anymore. I went with the tempurpedic adapt hybrid 2.0 since the pro adapt models are softer. Only thing I’d warn you about is they sleep a little hotter than traditional mattresses.
About 2 weeks for us. Love it.
It definitely broke in a bit at 30 days. Got even more comfortable. I understand from other Reddits that it will continue to change slightly up to six months. Seems about right. Also understand the room temp plays a role. We’re windows cracked in 45 degree nights. Be curious how more moderate nights and AC affect it. I feel very confident about all so far. The LuxeAdapt is very different from ProAdapt and then add in the 1400 dual springs. It amazes me the effect you get from only 4.7” of foam. 8.3” of springs must play a role too. But drive your knee into the all foam medium LuxeAdapt, it takes 30-45 seconds to rebound. Hybrid in 15 seconds.
I have 3 month old TempurPedic LuxeAdapt Med Hybrid. After baking, we sleep hot, in S&F Reserve, this TempurPedic has been a god send. 4.7” made up of 3 different TempurPedic foams with top layer featuring dime sized holes, it’s just about perfect heat and firmness. Rest is 15.5 gauge springs on top of 15 gauge springs. If the LuxeAdapt is cool, I hope the Breeze is too. 2 contradictory points. The most important thing about a mattress is the return policy. In store visits are 80% useless. You MUST test out at least 30 days. Second, check out 3rd party resellers on eBay. Starsluckysales for one. Half off or better, but no return. All those returned mattresses (like my S&F Reserve) end up somewhere. You’ve slept on used mattresses before. Hotel? Air B&B?
I don’t got a clue what the dude replying to you is talking about. I work there, idgaf if you buy from whoever this anonymous salesman is but one thing I will say is that is an asinine price for a tempurpedic to the point where I’m convinced the salesman has gotta be on his last legs, if I were you though I’d absolutely make sure I have it in writing that it’ll still be exchanged at no cost in the case that you’d want to exchange it because typically there’s no exchanges or returns allowed on clearance. Also upon delivery I’d make sure everything is good with the mattress cosmetically and feel wise before signing for it because after you sign it’s considered yours. I’ve sold tons of tempurpedics in my time at MF and I’ve never had one come back or even heard that it’s sagging after months and one of the stores I work with in my district has one of the highest rates of selling tempurpedics in the company and they have basically no issues either even years after purchase. Just make sure you have a completely solid foundation underneath the mattress as well and afaik you should be fine. Both the price you got offered on the adapt and proadapt are insane though, idk who you met but those are literally similar prices us employees pay for our mattresses
Unless you have a breeze line tempurpedic or a new line tempurpedic from the adapt collection which has ventilated foam that promotes much better temperature management you should likely treat these new tempurpedics different from older ones. Older model tempurpedics had much worse cooling due to no ventilation in the foam. OP should still choose what they feel comfortable at the end of the day but I feel it’s crucial to add this. Only way the cooling won’t be as prominent is if they were to not have breathable protectors and sheets.
I sleep hot and have the adapt medium hybrid. I didn’t like it at first but now my husband and I love it. We bought cooling sheets and sleep with a lightweight breathable quilt and I don’t get hot at all.
Took a few weeks for us to adjust too but once you adjust you will love it!
I have an tempur pedic adapt medium hybrid and I hated it at first. But now I love it. It takes some time to adjust but I never had lower back pain. I’m also primarily a stomach sleeper but I’m a little heavier at 5’4” and 150 lbs. You can make it feel firmer by keeping your house temp cooler. I hope it ends up working out for you!
I know lots of people on here have said they walk or crawl on their tempur pedics to help them break in faster. I never did that, I just gave it about a month or so. You could also try keeping the temp a little warmer too to help soften it. But a soft topper should definitely help until it’s broken in. I really hope this mattress ends up working out for you! It’s a good one!
Did you get the regular Adapt or the Pro Adapt? I’ve been very happy with my Tempurpedic, but it’s run its course. I’m leaning towards another one.
Thank you! Going to try a few out before I buy- but that’s never the same as when you actually sleep on it.
TempurPedic is not memory foam. Its a proprietary material that is ventilated unlike normal memory foam. It also holds its shape much longer than memory foam.
Yeah, no. Tempur is technically in the memory foam family, but it’s like comparing a luxury car to a broken down beater. They both have engines, right? I guarantee you are lying about the VP saying they despec'd their material. Otherwise, name job or indicate which region this "vp" is in.
