Hi, I have had my "Euro-Tempurpedic" for almost 20years now. It is still firm and wonderful. But I need to replace it. It was sold in the "Rhapsody" days for those that have that model. It was very very firm. It still looks like new and almost as firm as the day I bought it. But it's a king and we can't lift it anymore or even rotate it. So I need to buy split king size. My problem is I was going to get a Adapt-Pro Firm Tempurpedic but I see all the things about not making them like they used to. I can't have a mattress sagging in a few years. I will have an adjustable base under it (now I have the Tempurpedic Foundation which is still also in great shape). Any suggestions on something that will stay as firm in a few years? My current Euro Tempurpedic was my best investment! I appreciate any advice.
Tempurpedic extra firm Rhapsody, I believe the model is. It’s about 7 years old and still exactly like it was off the truck. Dense and firm and perfect. I am not a spammer or bot. Check my post history here. Been on Reddit for like 12 years.
I loved the Rapsody. Had mine for about 12 years. I only switched when I changed employer's so I could speak more intelligently about the product I was selling and be able to give personal insight. I was going to go with a Luxe Adapt Firm if I stuck with Tempurpedic but moved brands entirely. That being said, you could try theAdapt topper but I have no personal testamonial. Nothing lasts like they used to. For me the Luxe Adapt Firm came the closest. I would tell you the same thing I have told others on Reddit - ignore most of what you read here, it is where people come to complain. Try a Tempurpedic Flagship store as opposed to Mattress Firm. Understand the return and exchanges policy's in depth. If you are looking at an adjustable base, it is not returnable. Take some time to see if it works for you, both in the store and once you get it home. As a company, Tempurpedic is pretty good with customer service as long as you are making reasonable requests.
I have a 14 year old Tempurpedic Rhapsody, mine wasn't extra firm though. It's still awesome, but we're going to buy a king size bed and went with a local latex bed manufacturer this time. The Tempur has held up for a long time though!
My old tempurpedic felt good for most of the 13 years for me. My husband noticed that when it was warmer out/in the house he sunk down more. I don't think they make them like that anymore though. Plus, I find it sleeps hot. So, this time we went with a local company that makes their own mattresses, and got all latex. Opted for split king so we could each get the firmness we prefer. They supposedly last a long time, plus we can always change out the top layer if needed. We'll see. They were not cheap, but I'm obsessed with this bed. Couldn't be more comfortable for me.
u/Falcormoor u/Broad-Argument-9884 : I'm looking for a memory foam topper & would appreciate whatever advice or information you may offer. Where can I find foam like the OG Tempur-Pedic mattresses? I bought a queen back in 1997(ish) when they only had one model & I loved it. In 2007 it went to live in my guest room because I wanted a bigger bed & I bought a king Tempur-Pedic Rhapsody, which I also loved. After 18 years with the Rhapsody I started waking up with a stiff neck so I decided it was time for a new mattress. I looked at the current Tempur-Pedic offerings but haven't heard great things about them. I'm now in my first week of the Sleep on Latex hybrid; it's way too firm for me and has too much motion transfer. Where I can find a topper (or even a mattress) of same type & quality as the early Tempur-Pedics? Do they even exist any more? What exactly am I looking for? The 1997 OG queen is still going strong - after about 5 years in my guest room it spent a couple of years as the main bed for my partner's son & wife, then came back to live in his guest room. We slept on it recently & it's still very comfortable.
Firm Tempur-Pedic (adjustable base) with a 3 inch (cooling) topper - best bed I’ve ever had by far. I’ve had a bad back for years and this thing keeps me sleeping like a baby with no pain when I wake up. I didn’t understand people “loving” their beds until I got this one. Bought it 3 years ago and it’s like new. Zero sagging and super sturdy. Since I use a topper and mattress protector, I imagine I’ll get more than the typical 10 years out of it.
