I meant no offense in what I said and I am glad that you both feel comfortable in your own skin, but being on the heavier side definitely plays a major factor into how much you will have to spend on a mattress, especially if you want a product that lasts a long time before eventually deforming and creating a divot for both you and your partner on your respective sides. This is gonna be a bit of a long one, so please bear with me lol. When I was a teenager, I was pushing 240# and it made the mattress search extremely difficult. I had bought a Beauty Rest spring-based pillow-top mattress from MF and that lasted maybe a max of 2 years before it formed a substantial dip of about 3.5-4” in the middle of the bed where I typically slept, therefore severely sacrificing sleep quality rather quickly and leading to an immense amount of back and shoulder pain. Coupled with being an athlete, this was a major issue that led to a multitude of long term consequences which only worsened the physical wear and tear on my body as well as it hindered my body’s ability to properly recover and heal. I then bought another spring-based pillow-top mattress from a boutique brand crafted in North Carolina; I forget the name now, but that mattress. also faced a similar fate as the BR after about 4 years, even after losing about 30lb and dropping down between 205-210lb. I slept on that for nearly 7 years total, continuing to deal with the pain because I couldn’t justify dropping another $1,500+ on a bed. Come 2023, I was involved in a rather severe motor vehicle accident and my back and neck problems progressively worsened to the point where I could barely sleep more than 2 hours throughout the night without waking up from the combination of pain caused by the accident alongside the symptoms caused by a failing/failed mattress. I had dropped more weight between getting that boutique mattress and the accident, maintaining an average of 175-180lb for the last 3 years of my ownership/use, but my former weight had already done lasting damage to the mattress in terms of causing a permanent dip that refused to spring back. After nearly a year of dealing with those issues after the accident, I decided to bite the bullet and finally splurge on a high-end mattress that was well outside of my budget at the time; to this day it was one of the best decisions that I have ever made for my body. After extensive hours of testing of many different beds at multiple showrooms, I was stuck between choosing either the Tempurpedic Pro-Adapt firm (Tempur’s firmest mattress) and the Pro-Adapt Medium. I ended up going with the Tempurpedic Pro-Adapt medium (non-hybrid) and so far it has been the best mattress that I have ever used (coming from a back and left-side sleeper). I have constant support on all parts of my body, sleep through the night rather well (at least 5-6hrs of uninterrupted sleep) and wake up with highly minimized or little to no pain/discomfort thanks to it. As someone with multiple disc herniations, disc bulges, pinched nerves, and a bunch of other problems throughout my neck and back, this mattress was a life saver and well worth the price point, especially since I was able to buy it on sale. Combined with their adjustable base, I sleep like a baby now. The Costco Tempurpedic Supreme is extremely similar to the Tempurpedic Adapt series of mattresses, and is close contender to the updated Pro-Adapt series, at a fraction of the cost. Costco offer a hassle free return option with no restocking fee, too, unlike Tempurpedic who charges around $150 to restock and replace if you’re unhappy with the bed, so overall Costco is a great option if you’re undecided. As for another alternative if financing or buying outright isn’t an option, Facebook Marketplace is a great place to find these mattresses without breaking the bank. They’re rather heavy and large and a ton of people don’t care to transport them while moving, so they sell them for dirt cheap. In the Bay Area, I see queen and king versions sell for around $500-$700 on the regular. They do not tend to degrade by any means due to the quality and densities of the foam, even a few years of use by heavier people, so buying used is a great choice if they are kept in a clean home. I find that a lot of people purchase them for guest beds, so you often find them barely used at all as well. I am a major advocate for buying used if you can find a nice one somewhat locally. If they bought from a verified seller of the Tempurpedic brand, you also retain the 10 year warranty from the original owner’s purchase date. It’s a win-win all around.

Tempur-Pedic is one of those things you hate until you try it. I used to clown on my parents for spending thousands on a mattress. Then I actually slept on theirs for a week when visiting and holy sh\*t. It’s like sleeping in zero gravity. I bought the Tempur ProAdapt medium when I got home. It hurt my wallet badly but three years later it still feels brand new. I move around a lot in my sleep and my partner doesn’t feel a thing. Only downside: moving it into the house was like wrangling a drunk walrus.

We’re getting rid of our pro adapt medium after 4 years. It’s starting to wear down in the middle and its been causing me a lot of hip pain. Also from day 1 it’s been sooo challenging getting out of this bed. You get so deep into the foam that it’s hard to easily turn over which has been really frustrating. It’s not as responsive to movement as i hoped it’d be. Also it will be much firmer than what you tried in the store but will eventually get softer. We’re 5’7 170lb (back sleeper) and 5’7 190lb (side sleeper)

r/MattressLeesa Legend Qs: Costco price & feel comparisons

I just ordered this and will receive on Friday! I'm sending back a tempur medium supreme non hybrid that I found to squish down way too far and have horrible response and continued to off gas something awful even after a thorough several day air out. The surface of it felt hard as a rock and then you'd slowing sink in and keep slowly sinking in forever! I didn't like it all except it felt fine if you just were laying on your back only. Side and stomach you'd feel somewhat sunken in a bad way. Maybe the firm would have been better but with the off gassing and slow response I moved on all together. I come from using a 2011 Tempur Cloud Supreme from which has a plush surface and excellent response time. Over the years it's lost it's support so I'm on my third try with the Leesa and praying it works! First tried a bear medium hybrid (hard, okay on back but not on side or stomach, too springy!) then when I saw what trouble the return process and iffy warranty stuff could be switched to costco offering for ease and warranty aspect. Good luck!

Hello, a couple months ago I purchased a tempurpedic Pro adapt 2 from Gardner White. It is the foam mattress, and I immediately had buyer's remorse. I've slept on it 2 months now, and am looking to exchange. What are your thoughts on King Koil or Aireloom NS 2000? I'm a side sleeper, and prefer a firmer mattress. I'm reading reviews about Aireloom that it can start sagging after a year or too, and it's an expensive mattress (over 3K!). Appreciate any feedback. I have to exchange the mattress with one of GW's products.

Friends have a tempurpedic proadapt non hybrid they are obsessed with. My husband and I were equally overwhelmed with options + we have wildly different preferences in firmness. We'd done our own trials and nothing stuck so we tried that one. We liked it but ended up going with the probreeze in a medium hybrid because we wanted a little more cooling and liked the hybrid feel better than pure foam. Very happy with it.

The off gassing took about 2 nights to get used to. It’ll go away. But tempur is known for that being one of their downsides. The added comfort at night and the now zero hip pain I feel the next day is so worth it.

Ours is only 2 weeks old. You could have a really solid sniffer lol. we did intentionally put a fan in our room for the first week to circulate the air around and help with the smell.

The tempur pedic actually gave me real pain relief. I know there are other good brands out there, but man it’s hard to recommend anything else when the science bed did the damn thing it said it would.

Hey y’all, curious if any of you have experience with these new tools that basically have you lie down and it maps your pressure points & recommends level of firmness to try? I got to try this at a Sleepare store yesterday and it recommended plush/ultra plush (which actually lines up with my mattress experience so far, and why the tempurpedic proadapt medium has been absolute hell). Curious about how accurate these are? I’m now evaluating a Helix Elite bed and considering going with the Sunset over the Midnight for this reason…but in general having a hard time finding an affordable super plush but supportive mattress option now (affordable meaning <$2.5k for a twin XL. Mattress firm had me try a dreamy S&F but it was $4.3k for the twin xl and I just can’t swing it). Kind of scared everything is just going to be too firm. FWIW I tried a soft 3” topper on the tempurpedic, too, and it still hurt—I think I need some coils.

Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt medium is the best thing I’ve ever bought in my life. I would fight a bear to protect that mattress.[](https://lovable.dev/projects/1c71fe17-d814-4e81-985f-313264583bed?utm_source=lovable-badge)
