Hey there, If you really want to stick to a hybrid mattress, of the two you're considering the Brooklyn Bedding Signature bedding wins out against the Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid for your use cases. The Dreamcloud isn't supportive enough for heavier side sleepers and most back and stomach sleepers won't experience proper spinal alignment regardless of their weight. The Brooklyn Bedding does offer much better performance for side sleepers in those categories than the Dreamcloud but is only marginally better when it comes to sleeping on your back. If you're open to an additional recommendation outside of the Hybrid space, I have an All Foam mattress I think might fit the bill. The Tuft & Needle mint could be just what you need based on our testing. The Mint comes in as a medium firmness rating and is a great choice for combo sleepers. It's best suited for lighter back sleepers while also offering pretty decent support for average & heavier individuals in back sleeping positions. Its support performance is quite consistent for different weight categories. It offers good body conformity for lighter individuals, so it'll offer satisfactory pressure relief for your arm and shoulder. It excels in body conformity for average-weight people and fantastic body conformity for heavier individuals, so it's suitable for side sleepers in those weight categories as well. The Tuft and Needle Mint is most supportive for lighter people but offers a solid performance for individuals in other weight categories as well. If you're in the lighter weight category, its good support makes it suitable for back and stomach sleeping. So overall, It should meet the needs of both yourself and your wife based on your given weights and regardless of which sleeping position you choose! Happy mattress shopping!
We have tuft and needle and like it! We have their basic and their mint. The mint is much softer than the basic depending on what you want!
I have had the stitch & needle mint bed for almost 10 years and it is the best purchase I’ve ever made. I’m a back and side sleeper with low back issues. My bed is the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in!
I’m so sorry, I said stitch & needle but I should have said tuft & needle. 1) yes it’s all foam. The “mint” part is a cooling gel, which is why we got it (my husband runs hot). But I haven’t found the foam inspire a sinking feeling like memory foam or cause any pinch point pain. I’m an hourglass shape so I need a bed that can accommodate and support me in any position 2) yes it is a little warmer. Helpful for winter. We have a window A/C unit in summer and that takes care of any issues 3) it feels the same now as it felt out of the box. It’s been very consistent. No part of the mattress has deformed. I had a spring mattress that deformed very quickly Let’s see, we bought this in 2017 iirc so before tuft & needle the start up was acquired, so while I see they still sell the mint (for muuuuch more my god!) I’m not sure it’s the exact same: https://www.tuftandneedle.com/products/mint-mattress?variant=42295908466754 I will also say that the mattress is very thick so we buy extra deep pocket sheets because otherwise the fitted sheet fails. :)
Ill also throw my hat in for Tuft & Needle. I needed a new mattress pretty badly and did substantial research for about 2 months before landing on T&N. I beleive i also went with the Mint option. Not a penny wasted.
I spent about $1000 on a queen from Tuft & Needle. My philosophy is, if you're going to spend 1/3 of your life sleeping on it, its worth the investment. The only down side is getting out of it in the morning.
I'm 6'9" and 240lbs, and I got a Cal King Tuft & Needle Mint mattress 5 months ago. It's on the firm side, but amazing. I sleep like a baby. When I bought it, it was the highest rated memory foam mattress on Consumer Reports.
I have enteropathic arthritis. I woke up daily in pain until we got the Tuft and Needle Mint mattress. Have had it for at least 8 years and it is in as good a shape as it was when we got it. No more pain in my hips, knees, shoulders. I recommend this mattress to everyone with pain.
Tuft and Needle. I got the original over 10 years ago and it’s still a great mattress. It’s in the guest bedroom now. I now have the Tuft and Needle Mint on my bed. Both kings. Wife and I love them.
Same here; Tuft and Needle Mint, have had it for 6 years and it's still great.
