I went down this rabbit hole too many times… There is a lot of personal preference, but here’s mine— Never memory foam, make me handicapped, sink in, can’t move bullshit. Latex is a massive step up— sink onto, not into. Aerloom’s higher end beds have micro coils (lots of support) with latex on top. Step up from that— Kluft. Same company, supposedly better product. Aerloom made my back feel 90% better than the very pricey online bed in a box bullshit I had purchased a few years prior. Next step up Vispring. No foam. Springs, cotton, wool, horse hair (if you’re fancy). Feels like an 80s bed, but in a good way. Back pain gone. There is a NY company that makes handmade beds like Vispring, but way less expensive. Didn’t buy because I couldn’t try them out in California. Might be a great mid price option. Google will find them for you. Remember lots of margin in mattresses. Ignore their “xyz” sale and ask for no less than 33% off .

Tried it in JL Oxford Circus. Felt quite misformed, especially compared to the other ones.

I have a vispring and despite being really comfortable in store the reality is not great for me. I wake up with lower back pain most mornings. I think the bed base is really important (I don’t have their divan). Their customer service has been good though and they will review it with me and change the firmness if needed.

Had a Vispring and it only lasted 9 years. It was also heavy AF to turn and flip which is insane. Was really disappointed for the price I paid. I do agree about boxed mattresses though but for someone who needs more support due to shoulder issues, pocket spring mattresses give too much between pockets and the filling shifts and becomes difficult to move. Finding a good mattress that suits over a decade or more is impossible though tbh as our bodies can change so much.

Vispring Mattress - one of the mid-range ones. Best money we ever spent. Remember you spend approx a third of your life sleeping, this is an area worth investing in.

I splurged and got a Vispring, but there's plenty of other all-natural mattresses like Engineered Sleep Duo Lift

I used to own a furniture store and flogged all kinds of mattresses and let me tell you; it's very subjective. We currently sleep in utter comfort on a Simba, but many consider mattress-in-a-box brands a bit shit. I personally hate most Vispring mattresses and love most John Lewis ones. Thing is; it means nothing to you. We'll distribute our weight differently and our bodies will want different support and a different feeling in general. I've also noticed the mattresses I like to sleep on are the worst mattresses for other bedtime activities... so that's unfortunate.
