I replaced my three XE75s with three BE95s a year ago. For six or seven months the 95s were extremely stable, but something started happening in September and I’ve had stability and speed problems since. A month ago I received an apology out of the blue from ATT that said a software update had caused my internet equipment to have “connectivity hiccups” and that it had been rectified. After that, I still had speed issues from the internet and also within my home network. I finally called TP Link customer service and after running through the drill with no success, a young lady with a firm understandable voice asked me to check my QoS settings. (I didn’t know I had QoS or settings.) The bandwidth was set to 800. Which apparently cut all my speeds to 800 or less… And along with it my stability was terrible. I have a 2gb fiber plan and 10gb wiring and switches in the house. I flipped the bandwidth setting to 2500 which is the BE95’s max. It’s been golden ever since! I’m back to being a BE95 fan again.
Works great here and had the best 2.4 ghz performance for my 90 iots. And I tried Eero max 7, Deco BE9000 or whatever the top model and the top Asus zen mesh wifi. Reliability has been great. That being said, the other top models have much better 5/6 ghz performance, but honestly 300 mbps is fine for 99% of times. MLO has been glitchy. Nowadays I care more about reliability, latency rather than raw speeds. Set it and forget.
I really loved the deco, but I have too many iot devices and cameras - It overwhelmed the deco 2.4 ghz network. I have over a dozen cameras and they are constantly transmitting data. As long as your 2.4 ghz needs aren't too demanding, you should be fine.
BE95 three pack all the way. You won’t be disappointed. I love when I’m using a WiFi 7 160 MHz device and I get 2.5-2.8 GBPS on WiFi and when I get 3.1-3.6 speeds on WiFi 7, 320 MHz devices when I’m 10-15 ft away! Love love love it! It is true that they have not released an update for quite some time. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing.
Go BE95. I have the main router and 2 satellites. Switched from Orbi 970. The BE 95’s have shown themselves to be much more reliable. 970’s weren’t worth the ridiculous price I paid.
I have two TP-Link Deco BE95 over wifi backhaul and they work great. I do plan on connecting them with fiber backhaul soon with a backup Cat6.
I believe one issue with the be95 is that the 2.4 GHz channel is wifi6 so it does not aggregate with the MLO, at least that's my experience. It is a dual 6GHz model though, so you have both high and low channels that are now usable with devices.
The BE95 is supposed to be their flagship mesh unit. I’ve got six of them and the 10Gbps setup at home is great, but the support story is rough. No firmware updates in almost a year while their other gear gets updates all the time. I still hit weird bugs like losing IPv6 from my ISP every week, which forces a full network reboot. Some key features are still missing too, like IPv6 VPN support.
The three pack sounds like a perfect match to me, unless you have an oddly laid out home (and probably even then). If you are able to run an ethernet backbone, that is always best, but mesh mode should still provide really good wifi coverage. All Deco units are fully compatible, up to the individual unit's capabilities. The X50 area won't benefit from all the BE95's capabilities, but it won't downgrade the BE95 performance in any way. So yes, you can add the X50-Outdoor to a BE95 setup.
