"My Portal now connects and works amazing. Fast connection, zero lag."
"I did that and my Google home has never had a disconnect since."
"Actually better than a range extender, as Mesh systems are designed from the ground up to work with each other in the system. ... But it's half ass "patched up" jerky jerky mesh was no match to a Deco. Deco was snappier, more reliable, and longer range."

"I myself have a deco and we have four modules through a long rambly ranch house and we have nearly 300 MB per second everywhere because we have about 1 GB per second fiber to the house."
"I was able to cover a 3 level house using two units (one of the ground floor and second mounted near the roof of second floor near the stairs. This covers all 3 floors completely."
"It takes 3 decos to cover 5500 sq ft. That’s what I have. Took about 5 of the crappy Linksys ones. Got rid of those."

"Can confirm. Have Deco. Am miserable."
"rubbish app that won't let you change settings 9 times out of 10"
"The tplink’s I bought say they support mesh but once setup as a mesh they lose features. ... So the mesh isn’t worth using. ... The mesh setup is a half baked. You can’t use all the wifi features when setup as a mesh."
I've used the S4 AC1900 trio (older but worked well), along with the X55 trio. Still Wifi 6 but decent coverage. The one failure was the Eero Mesh 6, stopped working but got a replacement set from Amazon and shipped the old set back. No problems since then.
I had the Deco S4 system for a while with about 6 wyze cams and MANY (~30) other devices on the network. The system was ok but still lost connection to the cams often. They were all backboned with a hardwire. After moving to Ubiquity and dedicating a 2.4ghz SSID to my IOT devices, things have been perfect.
We have the Deco system with Optimum and it’s great. We have 6 around the house and we get very good speeds everywhere. We have a pretty big house and the modem is at one end so the other end had horrible speeds even with an extender. Now it’s pretty much equal speeds anywhere you go.
We bought them at Christmas so we got a good deal on them or I probably wouldn’t have bought so many. During Covid my kids literally couldn’t connect or stay connected to the zoom calls because of the horrible internet speeds, before we got the Deco, as it’s an older house with very thick walls and it’s a ranch so it’s spread out. I don’t know what model we have but Deco has an app that monitors each unit, which we find very helpful. I would just look on Amazon and check the reviews for each model.
I found the one we bought on Amazon but I don’t see how to add a picture. They have a deal with three units for $89.99. If you search for Deco Mesh Wi-Fi it’s the TP-Link Deco S4 Mesh AC1900 Wi-Fi system
I took out the link and posted the name. The router connects to your modem with an Ethernet cable. Each unit has two Ethernet outputs so you can connect your devices with an Ethernet cable if you want it to be hard wired.
No, it will be fine. I like the tplink Deco range
I like the TO Link Deco stuff My s4s will deliver around 400meg with no wired backhaul
It doesn't matter for 125mb tho, you can get 3-400 via wireless backhaul on the deco s4 for example
They used to be really good but technology has moved on, I’d suggest looking at mesh systems, personally I use TP Link Deco S4s you can either just add them to your router and they spread the WiFi around the house or setup your own network which personally for me has faster speeds as the Decos manage the WiFi, has a very user friendly app as well you don’t need to be overly techy to make it work.
You can decide really, you mention your PC as an example you can have one in there and plug directly into the Deco, in the app you can see what devices are connected where, we live in similar houses by the sounds of it so I have one next to my router one upstairs and one near the back of the house to cover the garden.

Another +1 for the mesh system. I use the S4. No dead spots
I’m currently running a TP Link mesh network with 3 nodes. The current system is a cheap TP Link Deco mesh (WiFi 5). I’m curious if the coverage from the Dream Router 7 would be superior to my current setup, or if I would need an extra ap. My current setup has trouble connecting to my WiFi ring doorbell and my car parked in the driveway on the other side of the house. I live in a 1700 sq ft, 2 story cape. I’m new to this so any pointers would be appreciated!
get mesh system - depending on your current DL speeds that you are paying for you may get away with a pre WIFI 6 system of 2 or 3 units... they go cheap on FB market place where people have upgraded to faster speeds We have TP deco on a 3 story townhouse... 1 on each floor - works well no dead spots like we had before and can plug in apple tv in the lounge to one via a wire... not a massive outlay tbf for good coverage if you are looking for less than 100MB down Look for DECO MESH on FB market place and you may get 3 units of pre WIFI 6 for less than 100 bux... it does enough for less than 100 down
I had powerline adapters and recently changed to the deco Wi-Fi mesh system which have powerline backbone connectivity so they can bridge gaps and provide a unified Wi-Fi across the house Really good kit
Deco is easy / inexpensive: minimal level of effort. Ubiquiti is expensive / high maintenance and for very high number of users (public buildings)
If you go with Ubiquiti, have IT guy install it. Otherwise go with simple (TP link Deco with Ethernet back haul). Ubiquiti is not for amateurs
