"Actually better than a range extender, as Mesh systems are designed from the ground up to work with each other in the system. ... But it's half ass "patched up" jerky jerky mesh was no match to a Deco. Deco was snappier, more reliable, and longer range."

"I myself have a deco and we have four modules through a long rambly ranch house and we have nearly 300 MB per second everywhere because we have about 1 GB per second fiber to the house."

"I moved to a TP link Deco system and have been incredibly impressed particularly with maintaining my internets full gigabit speeds between nodes."

"TPLink Decco is a damn good mesh system and and much cheaper. ... $169 for my 3 Decco System."

"you can pick up a 3-pack for cheap, solid units"

"for your building you could probably do it for under $1,000 easily."

"tplink just works ... I follow up with my customers each month and they say everything is much better and working great. I only hardwire nodes, never wireless, and I buy the wifi6e versions- I’m not saying tplink is better than Unifi, just saying a hardwired network and wifi where you need it is the recipe."

"I noticed a BIG improvement once i conected all my decos via ethernet. ... I hate cables but it was a game changer, i use smart products from different brands and now i don't have any issues with disconections!! ... Some meross plugs disconected all the time before wiring my decos, now they work flawless!"

"I have tp link Delco each has ethernet back haul works great."

"Seriously, set it up at my parents too a couple of years ago. So easy to use"

"Just a no fuss system. ... Plug in, download the app, set ssid and don't worry about it anymore for years. ... Mine has been stable and working for years."

"It’s easy and reliable. ... This is all really easy to set up in my experience, and it just works."

"I have having a nightmare with my networked PC's, some plugged into the ISP router and some on the wifi. They weren't showing up under worked PC's in windows and once i switched the Deco's to AccessPt Mode... everything fixed. I can connect to either the Deco AP mesh, or directly to the ISP router and all pc's can now see each other!"

"The reason I have upgraded to Deco mesh is because each powerline creates its own WiFi hotspot, which is fine if you are connecting a stationary desktop/TV etc (although in which case ethernet cable to the TP Link is better), but I had 3 in the house and the original router, which means the WiFi connection on your phone/tablet wants to keep switching to a different source when you move from room to room, and dropping out every time, which was enormously annoying."

"Also you can mix the different models seamlessly without having to upgrade the entire system"

"Deco is generally fine except that it handles iphones really badly. ... very frequently moving from one end of the house to the other I have to switch wifi on and off again to find the network. ... This seems to be a common complaint on the support forum."

"The TP links randomly drop connections."

"frequently fails to deliver advertised features or function reliably"

"The tplink’s I bought say they support mesh but once setup as a mesh they lose features. ... So the mesh isn’t worth using. ... The mesh setup is a half baked. You can’t use all the wifi features when setup as a mesh."

"Features they say they support are half supported."

What it is: It'll give you a single Wifi Network across your property. 'Wifi boosters' force you to have multiple networks to join. My TP Link Deco plugs into my router, and is my 'main' wifi network. The router still puts out a network, but nothing uses it. Other benefits - their software (apps) are great and you can whip up guest wifi networks easily, or networks for use by 'suspicious gadgets' that need the internet, but you don't want them on the same network as your phone and PC. We've got 3 nodes in the house - one in the router, then two upstairs. You might get away with 2. I've got the M5s, but maybe the S7 (AC1900) might be a good fit - [https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B8DXJ8XP?th=1](https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B8DXJ8XP?th=1)

r/TpLinkWhich would be better, tp link deco X10 or tp link deco S7?

S7 will be better, double the capacity of X10 on 2.4 band, the band which is the less sensitive to obstacles.

The main Deco must be wired to its source of Internet. I would return the Archer, indeed, and build a mesh only with deco units.

3 Deco meshes in the family, purchased in 2020, 2024 and 2025, all working perfectly.

So depends on what you really wanna do, TPLink Deco S7 mesh can probably get the work done if you’re only expecting basic functionality and maybe a little bit more like a guest and iot networks on top of the main network with isolation capabilities. If you’re looking into more like site to site VPN, VLANs and such, you’ll need UniFi or something more like that. I have UCG with TPLink S7 (that I bought a while ago) and it lacks some functionalities because of VLAN tagging in the AP but coverage is great.

r/TpLinkWhich Deco mesh is enough for basic home coverage (not tech-savvy and overwhelmed by all the Deco options)?

E4, M4 and S7 are pretty much the same, they are different generation models with new ones being slim and shorter than the old ones. These 3 are the basic ones and should be more than enough. X series gives you extra security feature (most of them require their paid monthly plan) and x50 that I use allows you to plugin your vpn config and supports wifi 6. If you don't use vpn you are better off grabbing M4 or S7 whichever is cheaper. For my upstairs where I usually work from I have M4.

I had Tp-link s7 Mash solution they was great 👍🏼 but I will recommend UniFi APs instead it’s much better and faster. The Mash solution is so limited and have to setup in specific ways otherwise they don’t use full capacity.

im a fan of tplink deco. for the best speeds get wifi 6/7 capable, and buy a few nodes to increase their range.

better than mesh is to use ethernet cable with AP. mesh wise tplink deco are easy and quick to setup.

for best and stable speeds is to use ethernet cables or existing coax cable. next best is wifi mesh and deco are a good for its price and ease of setup. i would get min 3, but you might need more as 2 floors is more tricky. from the list best is the x50, but s7 will work fine for your isp speed.

I have the s7 setup. Similar conditions and 2 floors. Works great but I still tried to maintain line of sight and had to add another 2 units. If I had a choice back then I would bump the tech. X10, 5 units. I think you are going to end up doing exactly that.

r/TpLinkPSA: DECOs Should Use “Access Point Mode” if Using a Separate Router
10 months ago

I have a main Deco S7 connected by cable (cat5e) to the provider's modem router, which has a contracted speed of 1 gigabit. And another 06 deco S7 spread throughout the house, all wired to a switch, which connects via cable to the main deco. The Deco was configured in router mode, but I switched to AP mode following the instructions here. Despite the change, the speed remains the same. The speed that reaches the provider's router modem, both on Wi-Fi and cable, is 1 GB. However, when I connect to Wi-Fi or cable via Deco, the download speed drops by approximately half, 500 MB. I have already made all the necessary settings to optimize the network and disable smart DHCP, but the reduced speed persists. Can anyone give me a suggestion on how to solve this problem?

r/TpLinkPSA: DECOs Should Use “Access Point Mode” if Using a Separate Router
10 months ago

I understood. What I found strangest was the speed on the Deco's gigabit port, with the cable, it only gives 500mb. This main Deco is on the side of the provider's modem/router, and with the same cable that I use on the Deco, I disconnected it and plugged it into the notebook, tested it using Speedtest and 950mb came out on the modem port. But when I connect it to the main Deco and add another cable to test on the computer, it drops to 500mb on the same site. What appears to be a limitation of the Deco S7 itself. Regarding the amounts of Deco, I really need it because the walls are thick, and there wasn't adequate Wi-Fi in the rooms. Regarding the operator's Wi-Fi, it is generating interference, I don't think so, as it is located in a distant and isolated place in the house, inside a closet, in a storage room. Isn't there anything you can do to increase the S7's Wi-Fi speed?

r/UbiquitiWill the Dream Router 7 have better coverage than an old mesh network?

I’m currently running a TP Link mesh network with 3 nodes. The current system is a cheap TP Link Deco mesh (WiFi 5). I’m curious if the coverage from the Dream Router 7 would be superior to my current setup, or if I would need an extra ap. My current setup has trouble connecting to my WiFi ring doorbell and my car parked in the driveway on the other side of the house. I live in a 1700 sq ft, 2 story cape. I’m new to this so any pointers would be appreciated!
