I remember seeing that bag in the LLBean catalog. Sadly, they followed Abercrombie and Filtch into the fashion industry, and many of their former, outdoor products no longer exist. I would look for a Coleman Heritage Big and Tall bag, and see if the zippers align. Two of those might connect as you desire. Mine keeps coming undone, so I would think it could interface with another. We use it open, flat, atop our mattresses. Then our mummy bags or a light blanket, or another, cheap rectangular bag... I get where you're coming from with this. Our REI mummy bags zip together, making me hot and her cold, so the conventional, rectangular sack allows a bit more freedom and temperature control. Today we picked up some sleeping bag liners from REI, and hope to have a more comfortable summer camping experience over the 4th.
If weight isn’t of a concern, just get a classic flannel-lined Coleman. They’re by and far the best. You can usually find them on sale at Big 5 or other sporting good stores
See if you can borrow a mommy bag because if you’d like to sleep displayed out with your legs and arms akimbo, you may hate a mummy bag. Or you may find you preferred to sleep with it half unzipped. I personally use a extra large rectangle shaped Coleman sleeping bag with a kind of synthetic cloth liner – not slick nylon or poly pro. In effect, it’s a giant blanket when left unzipped. I’m a big boy and I very much like to have my legs spread out, or bent up in the fetal position with the pillow between my knees. None of that works in a snug mommy bag. So again, borrow or rent one or two with the profile you were thinking about getting and decide if it’s right for you. And if not, go with the more traditional shaped rectangle bag.
coleman makes a big and tall bag. nothing fancy but adequate for sure. been using mine for a few years now and I am very pleased with it. excellent for the price. i also have an Exped Megamat max to sleep on and it is fantastic. Definitely pricey but worth it. I also own a nice cot but never use it, the exped on the ground is very comfy without needing the extra weight and space of the cot. I have also used one of those tall queen sized inflatable air mattresses which sucks on its own…but if you get it very inflated and stiff and put a mattress topper on it, it can be very comfortable but takes up a lot of space.
I agree this is the way. Two bags. Originally bought a bag rated for -10c but woke up shivering in the middle of the night of -6c. Now I use a Coleman rectangular bag over my -6c down bag. Makes a world of difference. Plus that with the double bag system you can use just the one in more warmer temps.
