Get the Cumulus Teneqa 850 or Alaska 1100 are by far your best options in the EU quality/money wise. US, no clue with the current tariffs. Probably Western Mountaineering or Feathered Friends. When I was in Kyrgyzstan, Temps dropped to -5C in August, but if I slept in my down jacket and -1C comfort UL sleeping bag, I was more than fine.
An additional item, yes. But together with your Cumulus down bag much lighter than the synthetic bag you would need. Also nice and modular - you can use the overbag as a standalone in summer.
Your experience sounds like there's something else than just reaction to some ambient humidity going on. That shouldn't cause such drastic effects. Clumping can happen is actially wet down is compressed, but ambient humidity shouldn't be enough to cause that, and drier treatment with tennis balls should help. One thing is that Cumulus doesn't seal their down baffles off from each other, so down can move from baffle to baffle. This has happened to me when machine washing a bag, and just tumble drying with tennis balls isn't enough to move down back to its baffles, it needs to shifted manually. You don't mention washing the bag, so I'm not sure this is the case for you, but something is amiss here. If that hasn't happened, ie. down is at correct baffles, my favourite way to revive down is the method often described here by /u/liveslight. I take a wet towel or a bedsheet, line the tumble drier with it, and put the bag inside with some tennis balls or equivalents. The steam from the towel works wonders.
So i purchased the Alaska 900 from Cumulus for a very rainy trail trip and at first i was super excited i slept inside with the windows up and fan on to make it as cold as possible and i was sooo toasty! however i took it on a kayaking trip and it stayed dry while on the kayaks but within 3 mornings the dew and humidity, (and maybe the constant stuffing and unstuffing into the backpack) caused the down to bunch/clump together and gather in certain spots, leaving other spots bare, so its just shell on shell with no down sandwiched in-between, leaving different spots on my body frigid in the night air. even after putting in the dryer with tennis balls for hours, the down is a little fluffier but not any more spread out. i knew that down gets finicky when wet, but i didn't realize it would be this aggravating over just morning dew! I did soooo much research (weeks of it) to get this bag and obviously not enough so now im coming to make a post of my own begging, heeeelllllppp!!! im looking for a synthetic bag (not a quilt), t-3 days till i leave for my trip but im fine with getting a bag sent to a post office on the trail and picking it up a week or 2 in (yes im a silly goose) and i want to be warm! I am a female who tends to get male sleeping bag because they generally don't make them tall enough for me, im 6 foot 2inches (188cm) and slim and i run pretty cold, my cumulus bag was only 3lbs and i know that synthetic is a lil heavier but im hoping to find the lightest bag while still staying toasty! budget doesn't really concern me, this will be my house for the next months, it'll be cheaper than paying rent ;p. ideally would like the comfort rating to be between 10f-15f, (i dont mind if its lower than 10f) would love to hear your recommendations and experiences with any bags you see in the comments whether good or bad!!! TL;DR: looking for the lightest synthetic sleeping bag, (yes bag, no quilts) with a comfort rating of 10f-15f (-12c to -10c), and fits a 6'2" (188cm) person, and again, is as ultralight as can be! Many thanks!!!!!
Take a look at cumulus bags. They can do custom fill (up or down, “waterproof” different fabrics etc ) and custom sizing for it as well if you wish. Not cheap but personally I think they’re the best down bags on the market.
