r/CampingGearSleeping Bag Comfort Rating: 0 or -6 degrees Celsius?

I have the Panyam 600 which is rated for -6 celsius comfort. And that is for me the real comfort limit while wearing base layers and pairing it with Thermarest Xtherm. I'm also a rather cold sleeper. Panyam 450 without additional down at -16 would be extreme limit and certainly not comfortable.

Esim Panyam 600 on aika varma suomen oloihin. /r/ultralight on hyvä foorumi.

Beware that the specs of the VersaLite are inaccurate. The bag is actually a bit heavier than stated. According to the specs the VersaLite has 110 g more down than the UltraLite but only weighs 85 g more, while also being wider and using the same fabric and zipper.  Also, the VersaLite is really wide - I'm 175 cm and 65 kg and the bag is too wide for me to insulate effectively when not wearing a big puffy.  Cumulus Panyam 600 is a possible alternative.

It's a great bag, but not as great as the specs would have you believe.  All Cumulus bags can be customized.  I haven't checked the girth of the Panyam compared to the VersaLite, but I would definitely keep it in mind as a too wide bag will be difficult to warm up.

Cumulus pamayra 600. I’m 180/80 and very warm and comfy. I’ve used it in NZ and PCT at 0c. Other thing to consider is your sleeping pad. All bags will feel cold if it’s seeping in from below

I went with a Cumulus Panyam 600 and couldn’t be happier. Went from 1535 to 970g and also saved a ton of room (from synthetic to down). I considered using a quilt but fussing around with straps and potential drafts didn’t sound very appealing to me.

Pretty sure that bag will be overkill, plus it's heavy as hell. Look at Cumulus Bags - $19 shipping to US, last I checked. I have the X-Light 400. I sleep cold, and this bag is too warm to use zipped up above 35F. The heavier, budget equivalent would be the Panyam 450. The Panyam 600 is closer in warmth to the Bishop Pass, but it would still be overkill. You can add extra down to the Panyam 450 or X-Lite 400 to boost warmth for extra $$$. https://cumulus.equipment/us_en/sleeping-bags/down.html

We are using Cumulus, a Polish brand / manufacturer. We have 3 Cumulus down bags in our family - 1 x Tenequa, 2 x Panyam. I have many friends using their bags happily. [https://cumulus.equipment/eu\_en/sleeping-bags.html](https://cumulus.equipment/eu_en/sleeping-bags.html)

Take a look at cumulus bags. They can do custom fill (up or down, “waterproof” different fabrics etc ) and custom sizing for it as well if you wish. Not cheap but personally I think they’re the best down bags on the market.
