I did extensive research into this a couple of months ago and wound up going with a quilt -- the [Featherstone Moondance 25](https://www.featherstoneoutdoor.com/products/featherstone-moondance-25-top-quilt-sleeping-bag-alternative-1). It kept me warm when weather dropped to 30s when I did an overnight trip in early November. I chose a quilt mainly for the weight savings and versatility.

I ended up buying on the following fall as well. Their Black Friday deals have consistently been the cheapest price of the year. If you buy one then, buy them as soon as they go on sale as they may sell out. I’ve used it down to the mid twenties in a hammock (with a second modified to work as an underquilt).
