Omg I am so prepared for this question! Just this past week we used our new Kelty TruComfort Doublewide: https://www.kelty.com/tru-comfort-doublewide-20/ I was always very skeptical of two-person sleeping bags, but I’ve also never had good experiences sleeping side-by-side (lost heat to the side when we shared quilts, kept slipping around in separate sleeping bags, etc). This bag solves all the problems! It zips around the top like a sardine can instead of along the side. Each person has their own climate control — I can unzip the toe box on a warm night, or unzip the top part down to my knees for less claustrophobia, but I can’t fall out of the side of the bag. Also the pillows can’t escape. MOST importantly, **my fiancé cannot steal the blanket**. There is an extra blanket layer sewn into the side for each person! It was seriously the best 2-person sleep experience I’ve ever had and I can’t recommend this bag enough.

My wife and I have a Kelty 2 person bag. It very rarely gets used. We like it if we are staying in a cabin at a KOA or something, but they are HUGE and unwieldy, and don't pack well. If it's colder camping, they are worse at keeping warm. Surprisingly, having another person in the bag means more areas to let the cold air in, and every time they move it lets your little pocket of warmth escape. If you already each have your normal bags and plan on doing a bunch of car camping, get a double bag. Otherwise just do your cuddling at home

I’ll be the odd one out to suggest a double bag but I almost never go camping without my partner and we cuddle. The Kelty Doublewide is where it’s at. Paired with 2 Klymit Drift Pillows (size L). Partner is picky with pillows and those are great. Grab a two pack from Costco Next for a good deal. Also for colder trips sub 30 pick up a large quilt / down / synthetic down whatever to throw on top.

Agreed. We just did this for the first time recently because we forgot our double sleeping bag (picked up friends on our way out and borrowed bedding from their house instead of turning around to get our bag) and I was like... why haven't we been doing this the whole time. Edit: FWIW, we have the Kelty Tru Comfort Doublewide bag and really do like it even though it's a bit bulky compared to our two single bags.

My husband and I use a Kelty 2 p bag on a Nemo 2 p Roamer. We like this set up and it's great to about 40°. In colder temps we've put it inside two more single sleeping bags zip together.

Kelty sleeping bag rated for 20 degrees. Base layer, sweats, socks, beanie. I also have a Coleman insert that’s basically like a thin blanket sewed into a sleeping bag shape for extra cold nights.
