Make sure you're looking at the Comfort rating and not the limit. Women generally sleep colder than men. Don't get a bag too long or the air will circulate and make you cold. Don't sleep in cold clothing- I like to bring wool baselayers for sleep and put them inside my sleeping bag when I set up camp. For my personal gear I use a nemo tensor insulated pad & for most trips a marmot Ouray 0 degree bag- definitely not ultralight but I'm willing to pack the extra weight for warmth because I do sleep very cold. I also like to do jumping jacks before going to bed to circulate blood flow and sleep with heating pads and/or boiled water in a Nalgene.
I got a long bag for a great price. I stuff extra clothes in the bottom to take up the extra space because my feet end up cold if I don’t. I learned my lesson and bought a regular bag when I needed a colder bag.
They’re both women’s bags from Marmot. Idk what the sizing is aside from regular and long. The guy at the outdoors store had me try out the second one before I bought it to make sure it wasn’t going to be too small.

That’s why I bought a shorter bag when I needed a bag with a lower temperature rating. It’s much better.
Marmot is both heavier and bulkier as it's filled with 650 CUIN down while the RAB has 800 CUIN. But from the insulation standpoint, the Marmot has 1300 grams of down and RAB has only 700 grams. So Marmot will definitely be much warmer.
True, but not on this difference. The amount of down is almost double. https://rjtedge.github.io/downloftcalc/
Marmot has duck down ( all Marmot's 650 CUIN is duck down ) and RAB uses goose down for its 800 CUIN.
Sure, it's not that simple and it depends of baffle size , baffle construction and the overall construction of the bag, but in the end 1300 grams of 650 Fill down will be warmer than 700 grams of 800 Fill.
DO NOT BUY A KIDS’ BAG. They are not rated accurately in comparison to adult bags. I’m 110lbs/5’3” and I brought a kid 0F bag on the John Muir Trail. Learned the hard way. I have a 0F Marmot that I love.
Rab all the way. Check the ratings too. Marmot rates by limit. I'm not sure if rab rates by limit or comfort but In my experience their gear is much warmer and better. Their down is the shit
Marmot “zero” owner here — it’s a safety rating, I am cold AF below 20 degrees in the bag. I trust no one but Big Agnes on ratings because they give both and *use* their own products.
