Running these analyses costs money. Buy through my links to help keep lights on! I may get a small commission.
I don't have the 15, so I can't directly compare, but yeah I have no trouble getting the 30 into an 8L bag. There's not much room leftover, but it fits. I also have a Riff 30 and it fits as well.
The Tempo is a larger bag than the Disco or Riff. According the specs at REI, it weighs almost a full pound more and has a compressed volume of over 8L. I'm not a guy that can ever get anything packed away nicely or back in the box it came in, but even I had no trouble just cramming either the Riff or Disco into the 8L compression sack. They're currently on sale at REI thru next week.... 😈
i vote get a compression sack for the sleeping bag and another for the tent. you’ll save so much room compressing them down. ditch both sets of cutlery, go for one long spoon. are you seriously tied to the jetboil? if not, get a smaller stove (pocket rocket works well imo) and get a smaller gas can if you can. stove, gas can, and lighter should all fit in your titanium cup, or at least a few of those items. ditch the lantern, use your headlamp.
maybe it’s a skills issue on my part, bc even our tempo 30° do not fit in a smaller bag than 13L. and let’s be real i do NOT need any more excuses to buy more gear 😂 very glad you can get it down in those bags!!
Definitely 20. You can unzip in a summer. Like a lot. Or get a 15-20 and a very light blanket/sheet for the really hot nights
It really depends on a person, I'm very comfortable in my side sleeping big agnes 20 at 22ish in just my underwear. And it's a very roomy mummy bag
Look up spoon shaped bags. I have a nemo tempo 20 (which is synthetic) but they have down versions for more money. As a side sleeper it allows enough room to turn over in while also still packing to a compact-ish size.
I get the weight concern, but honestly for Washington trips, the Tempo 20's extra warmth is worth a few ounces if you're a cold sleeper. I used a heavy synthetic in the Olympics for years and never regretted it when temps dipped.
I opted for the tempo 20 for similar reason. The regular will be plenty. I am just shy of 6' and the long is a bit too long for me.
