This is really one of those problems where the solution is spend a lot of money. Unfortunately. I had a MEC bag that was fine, it was reasonably priced (around 300CAD on sale), packed to a reasonable size (it filled an 11L pannier), reasonably light (1.2 kg), and quite warm (-10C). No matter how I organized things this darn sleeping bag just took up too much space, and I wanted to get my base weight down to under 11kg - UL hiking background where you are often aiming for half that but bike bags and tools and parts are pretty heavy. I ended up picking up a Rab mythic ultra something or other that was 600CAD heavily discounted. It weighs half of what my old bag does, packs up the size of a melon, is almost as warm. Depending on where you ride weight and size matter a lot.
I've used their mythic ultra 360 a bunch and its OK? I love sleeping in a restrictive bag, but I can see how this bag wouldn't work for people that didn't. On that note, its been generally warm enough but I have experienced some cold spots in it now and again where I am tight against the bag. I love how small it packs, its mostly something I use on bike tours in warm countries where the pack size is very important.
I have not done that tour but I have experience in the swiss Alps over the tree limit. Fact is that if you are lucky it will be much warmer 5+ deg C, if you are unlucky it can be -5 or even lower. Are you planning to postpone the tour if it is a cold summer? Will you be doing it only with sun and warm weather? I have a sleeping bag rated -2 deg C comfort from RAB, limit -8. If it is colder I may use a fleece liner or sleeps with more clothes, if it is warmer I sleep naked and open it up/using it as a quilt. For a tour like this, I would take a similar bag, or even slightly lower if you are planning to go no matter what (eg -5 comfort limit). It depends as well if in the future you will be doing more hikes in spring/fall, maybe you want a bag that can cover more range during the year, if you are already searching for something of good quality/make an investment.
This is my ultralight setup: Ultralight-Setup: • Tent: MSR Hubba Hubba • Sleeping Pad: Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XTherm NXT (R-Value 7.3) • Sleeping Bag: Rab Mythic G (900+ FP Down)
