If you can wait a bit, like November - May, you'll likely find *much* better value for money from end of season sales. If it were me and I had to buy something now for that temp range I'd probably get the Women's Kelty Cosmic Ultra 20 from steep and cheap for $150. If you're not a woman don't worry, women's just means it has more room at the hips and a bit more insulation. The Ultra version of the Kelty Cosmic has 800 FP down compared to the 550 FP for the regular version, that means it packs down more and is a bit lighter. If you sleep colder consider the Sierra Designs Mobile Mummy 15 from Kaviso for $150. This is the bag I use in the winter and I love it, IMO it sleeps a good bit warmer than it's comfort rating and the ability to use your arms or walk around without getting out of the sleeping bag is incredible for cold weather camping. Im very pleased with my Sierra Designs - Moblie Mummy 15. I found it to be true to its rating and the tight hood paired with the centered zipper keeps the bag with you when tossing and turning. It has a full zip so it opens up, the hood can get in the way... Was 40% off on the REI website. Weighs in at 1130 grams, not extremly UL but pretty good

In your situation I would not choose that bag unless you are going to backpack. 800fill down is to be lightweight and compressible, but is more expensive. For car camping, don't need it to be lightweight like that and could probably get a cheaper bag for more insulation. Comfort rating is 25, so it might be decent for your trip, but if it gets even close to 25 expect to be cold. At that price though I'd personally go with the Mobile Mummy on sale at [kaviso.com](http://kaviso.com) right now. Comfort rating of 27, which I personally think I'd want to have a slightly more insulated bag if possible. Again, for your purposes, that down isn't necessary especially the lightweight. Could consider a 650 down or synthetic bag (look at the dimensions of the packed size of whatever synthetic bag you look at though, if you are are worried about fitting it into luggage)

Sierra Designs has or had one recently. I tried it out but didn't like it much and ended up going with a Zenbivy which is exactly what I hoped it would be.

I also got an EE quilt and have thoughts on rating - I opted for a 0° bag but this was motivated by spending some uncomfortable nights right around 35° in my Sierra Designs down bag that was rated at that. With a quilt the zero seems overkill but the design has meant I've been comfortable in much warmer temps despite being a warm sleeper generally. I can open it up, hang a leg or arm out, or be just partially covered. They key with the quilt style is having a pad that is matched for the temps you're in. On my last trip i still took my Sierra Designs bag as it packs slightly smaller than my ee quilt but this setup works for me to cover a wide range of temps. Admittedly I missed the mobility of the quilt compared to the mummy but I've spent most of the last 30 years in mummy bags so it's not unfamiliar.

I have a Sierra Designs sleeping bag that has an actual foot flap that allows you to have your feet out of the bag while your body is still in the bag. It’s great. Highly recommend.
