Going with min night temps of 5c for this rec Travelpak 2 or 3 (if you sleep cold) for the built in bug net. If you don’t want a mummy bag the jungle bag (again for bug net) plus a fleece liner or blanket for extra warmth as needed. I don’t like bugs.
Can get Travelpack 2 on ebay for about 50 pounds new. Got one there and it's good for size savings (same situation as you - had a bulky and heavy old sleeping bag). Or you can get down bag from Temu with +5 degree rating and 0.5 kg weight (may be short though as I am 6'2").
Snugpack makes 30-40 degree bags which are budget friendly, pretty darn resilient and synthetic fibers which you won’t have to worry about getting wet.
Yes the sleepingbag we use in the army are very cheap and are pure shit, i'll send Carinthia an email they make bad products.. We use our equipment 24/7 and in all seasons. Its an misconception because people buy the whole "military spec" therm and get some cheep Ali express shit from the internet. The only down side to the military sleepingbags is the weight and the bulk, other then that iff you dont mind it the carinthia bags are brilliant. For me the snugpak sleepingbag are to small in width.
I'm a huge fan of Snugpak bags. I've used them in all 4 seasons in Ontario and Alberta. In the arctic. Mountians and deserts in California, Afghanistan, and Iraq. They're light, small pack size, and warm even when wet. There's probably newer fancier stuff out there now but Snugpak bags are worth looking at.
Snugpak has always been my go-to.
Love Snugpak. Would OP liable for tariffs though?
