I have a mountain hardwear phantom -40 and it’s solid. The bigger zipper and wider midsection sold me for reliability and storage space. My previous inferno bag had a flimsy tiny zipper. Honestly the mec talon -30 doesn’t look like a bad deal either. If you wanna get fancy, Feathered Friends bags are the gold standard I believe

I've got a North Face Inferno (because I've been cold before). But I'm pretty sure someone else can recommend something a little less pricey.

r/CampingGearFellow tall campers, where do you get warm sleeping bags???

As a year round camper I know the cold. For my money North Face makes the best bags. Some are named by the temperature they combat but they all tell you the temperature they can handle. Inferno -20 will keep you warm even if temperature hits -20 F. Stop buying "single" man tents. The measurements are on the lable. A 3 man tent at Bass Pro Shops is 7'x7'x48", LxWxH or 213cm x 213cm x 121cm. Play with this link bags come in sizes Short, Regular, Long and extra long

Im generally looking at higher-end bags that are available second hand with minimal use, cr completely unused. Some options im looking at are TNF Inferno, Marmot Col, and Big Agnes Greystone

Well you can wash it, it just takes a long time. I’ve just aired it out in the sun on a rock or top of my tent. If you’ve got sun, you are great. (I usually do this camping anyway) But if you don’t have sun and it gets soggy, that can be a challenge. I’ve also fluffed it in the dryer at home, either no or low heat. And when stored at home I leave it loose in an oversized bag. But it’s so cozy warm - I love it! (Very old North Face 0° - that I sometimes use with a silk bag liner)
