I came to recommend the Zenbivy. I sleep like this in mine and stay cozy.
FWIW I have the Lightbed 25 version with the insulated half sheet and it is the best outdoor sleep I’ve ever had. It comes as close to your bed at home - you can move and ventilate freely while being warm and cozy when needed. The rating is of course limit/transition but I’ve had it down to around and just below freezing (with a Xtherm NXT mat). Around 5°C and below it gets a bit chilly but I sleep very cold. I find that it doesn’t absorb water easily and that it dries up quickly if damp from condensation. Packs down reasonably well due to the 850fp down. I do not use their mat or pillow but the quilt and attachment system will be my go to going forward. Had it with me on The Great Outdoors Challenge crossing this year in Scotland and it performed admirably. My only regret is not buying the UL version. Feel free to ask whatever questions you may have.
For 10 a degree comfort rating the concept of “ budget friendly “ will begin to be a stretch. You may want to look at a hight temp rating then add a bag liner. I have a Zenbivy 25 degree Light Bed sleep system and really like it. I use their Flex inflatable pad. On a recent trip in November the air temp dropped to below freezing (we had frozen water bottles in the morning) and I stayed warm. I had a lightweight fleece blanket also to give me an extra 10 degrees of warmth. The mattress is great, i never felt any cold from the ground.
Schau dir mal Zenbivy Light Bed -4°C an, kombinierte die Vorteile eines Quilts mit dem Rundum-Schutz eines Schlafsacks. War für mich die beste Entscheidung der letzten Jahre....
I don’t have the ultralight but I have the light system and I love it.
It's a great sleeping system if you're a fidgety side sleeper and I love the fact the foot box can be completely opened up into a loose quilt that won't take a midnight walk to the end of my tent thanks to the sheet toggles. However it does have some major drawbacks. It's very expensive for what it is, the sheet prevents the use of thicker high R rated sleeping pads, and most importantly of all it's very bulky due to poor compressibility. The -12°c quilt, full length sheet and pillow stuffed into a S2S 13L compression dry bag doesn't cinch down by much, maybe to about 8.5L. Whereas my Cloud 20 sleeping bag will cinch down to about 3.5L in a 5L dry bag for half the weight and same temperate rating as the Zenbivy Light.
I would go with a quilt, they are great for moving around. Zenbivy is most peoples favorite, I really enjoy my Big Agnes.
I don’t have much of a recommendation for bags. We use sleeping quilts…and if you want lightweight check out enlightened equipment as they are on sale right now. They are a little bit more than your budget but really lightweight. There’s also Zenbivy as well for quilts (we both have Zenbivy and I also have an EEquilt for summer). They are also on sale right now. I do want to point out (as I am 5ft tall and my husband is 6ft tall) that if you are backpacking in a cold climate I wouldn’t recommend a double bag. Even if you get ones that zip together they won’t fit well bc yours should be smaller than his. We got a double bag once and we used it on one trip (car camping) and never did that again. We FROZE. You need your bag to fit closely to you. For it to fit my husband it had to be big enough for someone 6’5”. So that left a foot and a half of dead space at my feet. It was an AWFUL idea. So when we got home I got me a short version bag (up to 5’6”). As far as pads go we like thick ones bc we both can’t sleep on thin ones. I just bought a Featherstone Calcatta and a Big Agnes Rapide and love them both. They are 4.5 in thick and 4.25 inches respectively. Big Agnes does make a double pad (I think it’s the rapide as well) and I think it weighs 2.5 lbs so that could work if you want a double pad.
