Canon Pixma Pro 200S would fill bill but inks can get expensive if you are doing a lot of printing. A Canon Megatank G620 is a six color printer that will work and save on ink cost.
I bought a G620 to replace my old Canon G20 that developed paper feed issues.
That could be the Canon Pixma G650, or G550 if you just want a pure printer (US versions G620, G520). 6 coloured ink tanks for quality, user replaceable printheads and chipped waste ink cartridge for reliability and bottled cheap OEM ink for low costs in the long run unlike those costly cartridges. Great if you just print up to A4 size. Obviously, don't leave a liquid ink jet printer unused for too long. Let's say 1 week at max. If you live somewhere humid, maybe even 2 weeks
Pixma G650 if you need the absolute best quality with cheap ink
If you print at least once a week, a Canon Pixma G620 could be a good option. Uses ink tanks which lasts thousands of pages per bottle refill. Canon Print app is very intuitive as well. It's more of a photo/art printer, tho. So it will give perfect quality, but not so great for document printing Or if you want a good mixture between photos and documents, then a Canon G3270 or G4270 (or G4280 if you want a bigger screen). Uses pigment ink unlike the G620, so very good for documents but still good for photos.
Laser is bad for photos. Big no no. Just great in documents and graphs Before we go inkjet I've gotta tell you there are two main types of liquid ink: dye and pigment Pigment is water-resistant, won't fade away during constant light exposure, and pretty much top tier for documents. It's downside are an only a "good" picture output if you try to print photos with this type of ink. It's also more expensive to produce. You also can only store it up to 2 years before it goes bad Dye on the other hand has great vibrant colours, it´s cheap to produce and has a shelf life of up to 3 years. Downsides are it´ll fade away eventually from constant light exposure (heck, I even think storing it in a dark spot will fade it away, it´ll just take much longer) and wash away when it gets the slightest contact of water or any liquid. So not great for printing documents, which you have to store for idk 10 years. You could either get a pure Pigment, mix of both or dye inkjet printer. Also, probably ink tanks are better economically, since with cartridges you'll get pretty much scammed for how little is inside. Pure dye printers are mostly Epson Ecotanks like the popular ET 4/3800 series. Although I´m not a fan of them since they use fixed parts (printheads) and a slow Wi-Fi 4 chip. It's also just 4 colour printer unless you go for like an ET 8500 which is a 6 colour but the fixed parts design is still there. My fav in pure dye would be the Canon Pixma G620 which has both modular printheads in case they fail and have a faster Wi-Fi 5 chip About the mixed ones. Epson and I think Brother both use full dye ink in their 4 coloured ink tanks. No going around. But Canon does mainly pigment black and colour dye like for example the Pixma G3270 or the G4270. They also still have modular printheads and Wi-Fi 5 so they're a great all-rounder Now full Pigment is like real Office type ish printers like Canon Maxify GX 4020 or 7020. Absolutely great for docs and graphs, but for photos and art it´s just a "meh". They also can't print borderless so that's probably a huge downer for you. Tbh. If you make lots of photos, go for a G620. Or if you want the ultimate balanced middle child, the G4270/G3270 (there is also the G4280/G3290 if you hate the tiny mono screen. They use bigger coloured touchpad screens)
Agreed, step up to this printer and you won't be sorry. I'm not, love mine. The extra inks are crucial.
Exactly as mentioned above; - CP1500 is perfect for 10x15 prints and it is cheap to run. approx 0.33€/print - G550 or G650 are a great option if you don’t want to deal with any cartridge printers as they both work work bottled ink - PRO-1100 seems overkill in this scenario, it prints up to A2 - PRO-200S or PRO-310 are better option as they give you more control over your prints with more colors to work with. Or if you find a PRO-300 on the cheap. Go for that. They are both cartridge printers. The cost of running is higher the a G650 but you do get better color reproduction. I hope this helps!
I am happy with my Canon g650! It does an amazing job for the price. It's so rewarding to print photos and hang them to the wall, door, fridge, whiteboard, everywhere!
I use the Pixma G620, and find it to be a better printer than I've used in the past. I don't know about the Epson. For proxies, I print on glossy photo paper etc. like many of the tutorials found here. It's a 6 color tank machine, and back feeding (not roller). It produces amazing prints. I've tried it on every card stock I could find - photo papers of various weights etc. The Koala ultra thin, stickers, matte and double sided. It works on all of them. I'm sure the Epson will do similar quality work, and it's well used by people on here.
Already have one of those :)
I have a selphy 1300 (second hand for less than £50) which is identical (as far as prints are concerned)to the 1500 without some os and screen features. I also have a canon g650 A4 printer The selphy is brilliant for postcards, photos for the fridge etc... I have a memory scrap book which I use those photos. Quality is ok, it's fun. Requires a bit of altering of the settings to get colours right. The PIXMA g650 is for my "art" prints. Quality is phenomenal and the detail is another level. With some satin paper, I adore the prints and they really look "wow". Both have their use.
The pro 200 has a built in head. It may be easier to get to than in an ink tank printer but replacements are expensive. Among the three the g620 will likely be the cheapest to do a head replacement on as it uses two smaller cartridges for the printhead so youll only need to replace 3 channels at a time vs the printhead +cartridge/damper for 200 and 8550 where if one channel dies all 6 colors are getting replaced.
