I print a test page on my ET8550 a couple time a month just to keep any issues at bay and do a head cleaning periodically if I see any problems. Using a tank based ink delivery system does away with much of the headaches of cartridges. I know I’ll NEVER go back to using cartridges again. Even my day to day inkjet is an Epson EcoTank printer, ET2800.
My ET2800 was from Epson as a refurb. Still going strong in day to day operation after about 3 years. Stays powered on 24x7, going to sleep and waking up to print and back to sleep. All of my printers are kept like that.

NOT Epson ExoTank 2760 - Owned TWO and their customer service is a joke. A paper jam broke the first. The second one said it needed a new part that was over $150 to replace, or I could take it to "thr nearest Epsom dealer" to have it repaired for free. The nearest one to me is 6 hrs away. Oh, also, it doesn't even do a good job when it does work. Images all have a green tint and lines about ever 1/2" despite repeated cleanings, alignment checks, etc. The cartridge that "lasts thousand*S* of pages" needed to be replaced every 800ish pages or so. And when for every case of 10 reams of paper you're throwing away at least 2 reams because of jams or the machine just decides to stop halfway through a page, that goes by quickly. Also not Canon Pixma. Constant jamming. Slower than slow. The picture quality was good but after a year it decided to stop using the blue ink. I refilled it and it quit. Everything is now orange if I try to print in color. Oddly, if I print b&w single-sided it comes out black. If I print b&w double-sided it comes out orange.
We have an Epson ET2810. It works well. Wi-fi enabled so prints whatever is on your screen. Ink has lasted. Quality is fine.
I have the epson ecotank et-2825, which works well for me! It's about 200 euros here and the ink is wayyyy cheaper than getting cartridges, so that helps in the long run
My Epson EcoTank is working perfectly for me! Sure, sometimes the wifi is a bit iffy and then I'll use the cable, but I've never met a printer that always listens :P But the ink is really cheap (Had my printer for like 3 years before I needed to buy new ink) and the print quality works really well, especially if you get the epson photo quality printer paper (I get epson 'photo quality inkjet paper' - it's thin&flexible so doesn't bulk up your scrapbook too much)
I have three printers - HP Envy, Canon Pixma and Epson 2800. The Envy works good, BUT, like they just said here... you are totally locked in on THEIR cartridges. That is a monopoly printer. My Canon Pixma goes through ink like crazy, and the Epson is a tank printer. I like it. It doesn't fly through the ink and so far has been very trustworthy. Good luck!
