Get yourself a simple photo inkjet, something like the Epson XP8700. Quality will be much better than a SELPHY, and comparable to a decent lab print. Ink is relatively affordable and available worldwide, and it prints on regular photo paper. I have an INSTAX printer, a SELPHY, an Epson XP8500, and a big Canon Pro 200. Everyone here seems to be recommending a SELPHY printer. But frankly, its print quality is just not very good. It's fine for what it is, but worse than a cheap Walmart print, and that's a pretty low bar.

For art prints and stickers, you’ll want a printer that’s built with photo/graphic quality in mind, not just cheap document output. The key is good color accuracy and the ability to handle heavier or specialty media like sticker paper. In the 200–300 € range, some solid options are: * Canon PIXMA TS9520 (or TS702a if you don’t need scanning) → Very good color accuracy for the price, handles large paper sizes, and works well with sticker sheets. * Canon PIXMA G620 (MegaTank Photo) → Uses 6 inks instead of 4, so you get more accurate colors and smoother gradients. Much better for art than the regular G-series. Running costs are super low because of refillable tanks. * Epson Expression Photo XP-6100/XP-8700 series → Compact 6-color printers designed for photo prints. Epson’s dye inks are vibrant, especially on glossy or coated sticker paper. If you want to compare different printers by color accuracy (important for art), I put together a list sorted by that here: [RTINGS printer color accuracy comparison](https://www.rtings.com/printer/tools/table/176623). Lower “dE” = better, more accurate colors. Bottom line: * For your budget, the Canon PIXMA G620 or Epson Expression Photo XP-6100/8700 are great all-rounders for art prints and stickers. * If you’re okay with a traditional cartridge printer, the Canon PIXMA TS9520 is also a strong choice. All three will give you way better results than entry-level office printers, and they sit right in your budget range.

r/printersEpson eco tank 8550 vs Canon pixma pro 200s
about 1 month ago

Go with the Epson 8550. A huge range of print media and if your selling art prints on etsy, it's safe to assume your customers aren't seeking archival quality. Dye inks will give you a wider more vibrant gamut and once you select your paper of choice and icc profile (red river papers for the profiles and sample packs of paper)you will get thousands of prints out of the tanks. And the cost for all six inks as refills is like $30 on amazon right now. The Epson claria inks are rated to last 75 years+, much longer than any of your customers plan to have the print anyways. And if pigment ink is a necessity then when you buy the 8550, fill it with pigment inks and not dye inks. But this must be done on empty clean tanks and there is no going back. The 8550 will give you much better profit margins. The only reason to go with something like p900 is that 17" wide format is a must have, but then in that case you might as well just step up to a 24" inch plotter. After that, you move into the big leagues and run eco solvents One last note if you want a lower entry point but wide format you can go with an Epson expression for like $200 or so that will print in super a3 or 13"x19". It uses claria inks as well but in cartridges. Lower initial cost but higher long term. Your choice.

I have an Epson expression and it's fucking horrible do not get one. The biggest waste of money of anything I have ever bought.
