i was gifted a sprocket, and i think its super convenient and good sticker quality, however mine has a slight red tint to the print color :// not sure if its just mine, or if anyone else has had that problem. I also have not been able to find a restock of the printer paper!! 😭 id prefer to get it in store so I can make sure im getting the correct one, but every store ive tried where its been “in stock” ive had no luck💀 any tips? (ik i can just order online…)
I’ve been using an HP Sprocket for a few years now with no real complaints. Wait, that’s not true. My biggest complaint is that it can be easy to double print a picture and you can’t cancel the second print unless you figure out that it’s happening and turn the sprocket off before it starts the second print. But to turn it off and on, you have to hold down a button on the edge. By the time you can hold it down long enough, the chances that it printed the second picture already are pretty high. With the zink replacements being a little pricey, it’s extra annoying.
That being said, I’m just more mindful about sending pictures to print and it hasn’t happened in a long time. I do love being able to add pictures to my journal though and they’ve held up over the last few years.
I love using my Sprocket, especially if there’s a day when I don’t feel up to writing much! It does bulk up the pages, but I’ve been using larger Sprocket photos all year and I’d say around a third-ish of my dailies have the photos. A photo is worth a thousand words hehe
I enjoy my sprocket as well! On a side note - do you use any particular settings or filters? I don’t and feel like mine come out with a tint to it (which I don’t mind - it kinda looks polaroidy) but I feel like I see people using it and it comes out perfectly like the picture.
I have the sprocket and the selphy portable printer and they are great for printing on the go.
And this is how I found out the sprocket I got last year will have all my photos fade 😅
I have the HP Sprocket and it does the job! Seems to always need to be charged though. If you get a device that prints on zero ink sticker paper, the refill papers tend to be pricy. For the most cost effective, maybe look into a thermal printer?
I’m so glad I saw this, thank you. I’ve grown to hate my Sprocket tbh and I’ve been trying to decide if it would be worth it for me to buy a normal printer. Being able to print photo stickers on multiple different types of paper would tip it into being worth it for me! I love the sort of faded vintage look you always get from washi photos. I used to buy little booklets of washi photo stickers for that look! I’d waaay rather DIY it. What’s your printing setup like? 👀 Also: this has to be more archival than Zink paper.
I have a Sprocket and want to save up for a Canon Selphy based on the results I’ve seen if that’s helpful. I was worried about the Zink paper fading, but so far I have photos that are ~5 years old with zero fading. Being in a closed book probably helps?
I glue mine in with a glue stick, that seems to hold up fine too. And agree on the sprocket vs selphy, I used to use a sprocket but the quality is so much better on the selphy.
I personally have a HP Sprocket and do not like it. I suspect that it is defective (everything turns out so blue) It's been hell trying to deal with their customer service. Plus the Zink photo paper is so expensive in the long run. If you use it moderately often, I would try to get a secondhand regular printer, or invest with one with a tank (which is what I'm currently saving money for)
