HP - Sprocket Select

Maybe unpopular opinion, but the paper refills on pocket printers are so expensive, imo you are better off buying a smart tank printer for your house and printing in bulk (I use the HP smart tank and I've been loving it for the past 8 months). I print for my planner once every couple of days and the quality is a lot nicer than thermal paper printers (I have the sprocket and maybe it was mine deteriorating quickly, but the images looked nice only for a few months after purchase- after that the prints started becoming streaky and the colours kept needing to be adjusted in the app to come out looking true to the original).

As someone who's printed probably almost 1000 from my sprocket the last year or so... No. The quality is crap and makes everything redder, the prints fail half the time. The app sometimes prints photos from a few lots ago rather than the recent ones I've requested. And that's if the app is working, because it crashes at least 4 times before I manage to send anything to print. The paper I can get for about £22 for 50. So at nearly 50p per sheet, having several of those 50 be previous and a couple be fails/fuzzy/lines down is just ridiculous. This printer was new last Christmas. I'm turning to a good old big boy printer and sticker paper for next year because it's so expensive for the crap quality.

I used to use an HP Sprocket and it was great but then I saw the photo quality of the Kodak Retro and the colors just seemed so much more vibrant! I have made the switch to Kodak Retro! I also priced it out and the Kodak refills are about half the price of the HP Zink paper.

I used to use an HP Sprocket with Zink paper. (pros: fast printing, sticker-back paper. cons: streaks sometimes visible, color leans kinda lavender) Then, I saw a friend using the Kodak Mini Retro and I switched over. (pros: colors are clearer, images sharper. con: needs an adhesive to stick into the journal, printing is slower due to the "4 pass" process) I am using the Kodak Retro for travel journaling now because color and sharpness are important to me. I wish it had the sticker back tho! I bring a tape runner with me, but I have had them run out while I was on a trip!

I have the same device and I agree! One additional thing I will point out, and I’ve seen mentioned in reviews, is that the photo quality/color isn’t the best. I find it absolutely still worth it to capture memories, but it is just a different quality than something you would print and frame.

I use a HP sprocket Zink printer. Very happy with it.

i have the Sprocket portable printer however, it can be expensive if you're only looking for something to simply print photos.  reasons why i decided to make the investment:  1. the HP app (which you must download to operate device) allows so many design customization options for your photos - perfect for scrapbooking!  2. the sheets are self adhesive! which means i get to save on my other supplies like glue, etc. 3. to save on the cost of printer sheets, i can buy them in bulk ( i purchase packs from Walmart) and use sparingly.  

Ah, nice mention. I have noticed the quality of photos being slightly grainy but it works great for that "nostalgic 90s" style that i often like to use. 

I have the HP Sprocket and can pack that very easily. Canon Ivy would be similar. They’re both Zink printers and the quality is perfectly fine for me. I’m printing them for my journal, I’m not upset if the image isn’t exactly the same as my iphone screen. You can see a lot of photos and reviews on their Amazon listings. They are *extremely* portable and I’ve found the Zink refill packs to be pretty affordable.

Polaroid zip, I’ve had mine for going on a decade. Do not get the HP Sprocket!!!!!

My sprocket didn’t work out of the box so I exchanged it, and it still didn’t work, that’s when I got the zip instead!

This was like 10 years ago but I also tried buying the sprocket and returned it twice because it wouldn’t work. It was so frustrating. I don’t remember exactly what the issue was but after exchanging it and it still not working I ended up getting a Polaroid zip instead. It’s still going strong today!

Came to say the same! I got mine over 5 years ago and it works great still.
