Based on 1 year's data from Feb 24, 2026 How it works
I have the HP Sprocket and can pack that very easily. Canon Ivy would be similar. They’re both Zink printers and the quality is perfectly fine for me. I’m printing them for my journal, I’m not upset if the image isn’t exactly the same as my iphone screen. You can see a lot of photos and reviews on their Amazon listings. They are *extremely* portable and I’ve found the Zink refill packs to be pretty affordable.
Polaroid zip, I’ve had mine for going on a decade. Do not get the HP Sprocket!!!!!
My sprocket didn’t work out of the box so I exchanged it, and it still didn’t work, that’s when I got the zip instead!
This was like 10 years ago but I also tried buying the sprocket and returned it twice because it wouldn’t work. It was so frustrating. I don’t remember exactly what the issue was but after exchanging it and it still not working I ended up getting a Polaroid zip instead. It’s still going strong today!
Came to say the same! I got mine over 5 years ago and it works great still.
It definitely depends what's more important to you, portability/convenience or photo quality. The really small printers use zink and the photos are not that high quality and the colors are slightly off. I use the HP Sprocket for my reading journal to print book covers and it works great for that. But if you want better photo/color quality, the 4x6 photo printers will always be better.
I'll throw another endorsement in for the sprocket. I use it to print out quotes for my commonplace book, and the text is clean to read even when it is very small. Color saturation is just going to be a limit with all of these pocket-sized inkless printers--if you want phenomenal, high-fidelity photo quality, this entire market of printers just won't be the right fit.
I have the HP Sprocket for its portability but I also use my regular printer. I just buy the sticker paper and you can resize images to fit which saves you a lot more money.
I have a Sprocket & I do really like it
I’m using HP Sprocket. I like that the photo paper is sticky back, so I just need to peel and stick. I like that it has two sizes of paper I use , 2x3 taking up whole page, and then 2x3 where you can print 2 separate pictures on it, each is their own sticker. It’s Zink, so you don’t need to buy ink just the special paper. They say Zink won’t last many many years. It’s also not very accurate color rendition, but it has this sort of vintage look to it and I kinda like it. It’s cheap, small and easy.
You won’t really get the classic Polaroid look with these. Like someone mentioned think the HP Sprocket or Canon Ivy. I use a similar printer for my journaling.
I can't agree that it's a scam, since mine has been working for years. However, it looks like you may have a bad one. See other comments about color fidelity and durability, of course.
