I just bought a Kodak blue tooth printer that prints directly from my phone onto 2x3 inch sticky back paper. It's been working perfectly 👌 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08C72V1LB/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B08C72V1LB&ref_=sbx_be_s_sparkle_ssd_tt&qid=1737075683&pd_rd_w=gXtMw&content-id=amzn1.sym.4870a952-0dfa-4beb-9d2a-7a52537f019d%3Aamzn1.sym.4870a952-0dfa-4beb-9d2a-7a52537f019d&pf_rd_p=4870a952-0dfa-4beb-9d2a-7a52537f019d&pf_rd_r=D07YHXKV7Q1Y63CG5FE8&pd_rd_wg=CGFF5&pd_rd_r=21e209eb-dee2-48bb-b1da-1b9739261de7&pd_rd_plhdr=t

I have a 4x6 inch Canon Selphy and really like it. I use it mostly for printing stuff I want to put in my photo albums, not my journal. For my journal, I have 2x3 inch Kodak Step zink printer. There is definitely a learning curve to it, to get the best quality images, but Kodak guarantees that their zink prints DO NOT fade, so it was worth it to me to learn how to make the printer work for me. I color correct as much as possible, but it will never be perfect. I embrace the artsy, lo-fi aesthetic.

I have a Kodak Step zink printer. Kodak says their zink paper does not fade, and I haven’t seen any sign of it fading. Prints I made years ago are just fine.

I don’t have the ones you mentioned but the Kodak step. And I also don’t recommend it. Amazon even warns it’s a frequently sent back item. The photos are great in that they’re consistent in size but mine all have a pinkish tint to them. I’m in too deep now with mine but don’t do it.

Weird… My Kodak Step printer also has a pink tint to photos which I swear wasn’t there beforehand. I wonder if it’s a Zink/thermal printer issue.

So every time I turn it on I always do multiple calibrations with the blue papers. I think I did about 7 in a row and it was a lot less pink.

I was looking through my old journals and the prints from my defunct (my fault) Kodak Zink are still looking great. They always have them up on Depop and Mercari. I’ve been thinking about trying out the $15 dupe on AliExpress.

I ended up buying it! So far it is a bit pink but it serves my purpose enough and I can color correct. If I find I have enough use for it, I’ll upgrade in the future. But so far I love it.

It is a bit pink. I still am not sure why. But it was the best option for the price. What I do like about it is that it is fast, easy, and compact. It prints out glossy pictures on sticker-back paper. A drawback is that the photos do not have intense vibrancy, but rather tend to lean toward the pink side. Another drawback, maybe the photos’ longevity. I think I read somewhere that the pink coloring, maybe attributable to the age of the paper. I have only tried the Kodak-brand paper, but Kodak does not manufacture the paper - Zink does - so as long as it’s in the same size and shape, the branding shouldn’t matter. The paper is the same, but the blue calibration card then comes with the paper is what differs. So just save the blue card from a Kodak pack. Of course we have no idea how long a pack of paper has been sitting in a warehouse or even in the retail store. They have no expiration date. The Zink paper has also been known to fade so probably should not be used with things you want to archive for decades. One commenter on this thread said her photos from about 10 years ago have faded considerably: https://www.reddit.com/r/hobonichi/s/kXGjxCQrvB Im trying to keep that in mind. The way I look at it, however, it was pretty cheap, and it’s just fun. I just like to print the fun little photos. They are not super high-quality and they’re not going to last forever. But they are fine and they come on stickers and you can make things out of them. Really good for cards. I wouldn’t use them for an archival project, though
