I bought the Polaroid Hi-Print 2nd Gen to print photos for my bullet journal and to give to friends/family. The printer itself doesn’t come with a cartridge included (I got mine from Fantasy Toys), so I had to order paper separately. I ended up buying the 60-photo pack on Amazon for $44. I later found out that Xcite (online) sells the 20-photo pack for 6 KWD. Still, I preferred the Amazon option since it gave me more than double the prints at a better price compared to Xcite. Just something to keep in mind if you get the Polaroid Hi-Print 2nd Gen be surprised like I was jaja.
They don't stick much though. Source: I have the usb-c model of this hi-print printer. Apart from that, very fun to use.
I have the canon selphy 1500 and that is 6x4 photos and the quality is excellent. I recently bought the Polaroid hi print gen2 for portability and I really like it so far. Quality is not as good as the selphy but it's more good enough for my little travel/personal journal. I didn't buy the selphy qx20 as the hi print was on sale near me and about $100 cheaper. Otherwise I'd probably would have went with the qx20. I plan on taking the hi print with me to Korea in 2 weeks time so I can journal during my down time.
The hi print cartridges and the retro cartridges are interchangeable. I have the retro cartridges but have not used them yet. Yes, the sticky back aren't that good on the hi print cartridges but I don't mind as I prefer to use glue tape. For the small form factor of these printers, I am not expecting amazing quality. For me, the hi print is good for the portable size and what I am using it for. I think just give one a go, they're fun regardless.
I have a CP1500 and the Polaroid hi print gen 2. CP1500 paper is cheaper, crisper, and I like the app better than the Polaroid. I only use this at home and great for when I wanna print a good amount. The Polaroid hi print sticky paper is weak and will curl up. So, I will still use glue tape with the prints. The Kodak cartridges are cheaper, don't have a sticky back, thicker, and interchangeable with Polaroid printer. So I use the Kodak paper cartridges with the Polaroid. The Polaroid is way more portable and about the size of a standard phone, and about 1.5-2cm thick. The prints are not as crispy as the CP1500 but still really good for its small form factor. I got the hi print over the qx20 because it was about $100 cheaper and available locally to buy in store. Otherwise, I'd probably would have gotten the qx20 for the 2 print sizes.
i have the polaroid hi-print which i love! it uses the same mechanism as a traditional color printer (the yellow, red, cyan thing, so it’s not zink) so it comes out looking like you’d expect a photo to come out, and it’s on sticker backed paper. but i think it might be on the more expensive side compared to zink printers.
I recently got the Polaroid Hi-Print 2x3 photo printer and really like it! I have an Android and use Google Photos. The only issue I've had is that it seems like I have to "forget" the Bluetooth connection and reconnect it each time I want to use it. I don't have that problem with the mini Link that prints photos in the old polaroid style, though, so it seems to just be a quirk. I like both of them!
