Yes.. I went for an AEG a couple of years ago. I didn’t fancy the zip up window seal, so ended up getting an acrylic window panel from these people : https://plasticsheetsshop.co.uk/applications/window-sealing-air-conditioner/ I sent them the dimensions for my window frame and where I wanted the exhaust hole to go. If I want to use it, I open up the side window, attach the acrylic panel to the frame using heavy duty velcro, and then push the aircon exhaust hose out of the hole. I measured it to be a close fit, to stop hot air coming back in. I also had to superglue some little plastic handles onto the panel so I can actually remove it again - the heavy duty velcro is pretty strong. Just wanted to mention another option.

I’m not the person you replied to, but I have a bit of data. I use an AEG 9000 BTU unit, and had it on to stop heat building up in my office during the recent heatwave. I had it hooked up to a kill-a-watt type measuring plug. I ran it 6 hours between 2pm and 8pm, and it used about 65p of electricity. One thing, though… don’t get one that’s too powerful for your room. My office is about 3m square, and the aircon brings the temperature down quickly, but the humidity rises too. I have to keep the dehumidifier on while using the AEG.

It’s relative humidity. Colder air can hold less moisture, so the % goes up if the room is cooled rapidly. As I was saying, choosing a unit that isn’t too powerful for the room helps with this problem.

Yes, I know. But as I keep saying, if the unit is too powerful for the room, then they don’t dehumidify fast enough. My hygrometer clearly showed this. When my portable aircon rapidly cooled the room, the RH% went from 50% to 60%. This is a well known phenomenon when (I’ll try one more time) the unit is too powerful for the room. And the heat added by the dehumidifier was not noticeable as it was completely overpowered by the chilling effect of the aircon.

Because a portable aircon cycles between compressor phase (the loud part that does the cooling) and fan phase, as it attempts to maintain the desired temperature. Dehumidification only happens during the compressor phase. If the unit is too powerful for the room, the compressor phase only happens in shorter bursts. A more powerful unit is capable of more powerful dehumidification, but it needs more than short bursts to have an effect. Meanwhile, the air temperature is dropping considerably, can hold less moisture, and the relative humidity % rises. That’s why my measurements went from 50% to 60% (the threshold for problems like spores), and stayed there. I made my original comment because I chose a 9000BTU unit, but for my small room size 6-7000BTU might have been better. No problem… I don’t think you will have a problem with humidity as long as the unit isn’t too powerful for your room. 9000 BTU, my smart meter is giving me 34p an hour, i assume its circa 30 as i have other electrics on

I live in Europe, I have an AEG 9000 BTU (I tried also the wave 3 and I returned it due to poor cooling performances +0.2 degrees in the room after 1 hour). With 35 degrees outside, do not expect more than 1 degree drop in 30 minutes with a real thermometer, we are too far of what I read about the wave which is only 6000 BTU (and add degrees to the room from my personal experience because the air outputs leak inside the room) On their website : "Lower the temperature by 8°C in just 15 minutes" what a lie and I'm sure as well that op is sponsored by ecoflow.

Sealing make for sure a difference but this is not a way I would take for a brand new 800 euros product.

I've bought an **AEG** ChillFlex Pro on Galaxus last year for around 400.-. Best purchase of the year. I have installed it just today and oh my god it's good. You just need to buy separately a kind of curtain to let pass through the tube and not let any heat get in. The one I bought is well enough my "office" room as I work from home. It also helps a lot when gaming. I can maintain 24-25° in the room while I would get up to 29-30° without an AC.

En rigtig aircondition koster desværre minimum cirka 3000kr, det kommer du ikke uden om. De larmer, bruger pisse meget strøm, om dem på hjul er super ineffektive fordi vi i Danmark har valgt at aircondition ikke er noget man har brug for. Så i stedet for at have rigtig 2 delt aircondition, er de bærbare løsninger en ineffektiv løsning med en slange ud af vinduet. Vi har en Electrolux ChillFlex Pro, og den er vi glade for, selvom det koster kassen i strøm er det eneste måde vi kan sove på i et moderne isoleret rækkehus, uden vinduer i soveværelset. Synes generelt det er på tide at Danmark indser er aircondition er noget man har brug for, ligesom man har brug for varme. De sidste 2 moderne steder jeg har boet, har vi brugt 0kr i varme året rundt, men har til gengæld haft behov for den bærbare aircondition til at have bare 1 rum man kan sove i. Det kan man ikke fikse ved at lufte ud og diverse andre halv-løsninger. Det er især frustrerende når der skal være genvex anlæg over alt, men man ikke bruger lidt ekstra og får klimaanlæg på. Generelt er der en underlig holdning i Danmark blandt mange mennesker som synes aircondition er unødvendigt og noget svineri og næsten ligefrem er imod det eller bliver sure hvis man nævner det. Sådan har jeg aldrig hørt nogen reagere til at man gerne vil have varme om vinteren.

I bought an AEG unit a couple of years ago and it was the best £300 I spent. Once it gets going it keeps my bedroom at a nice and cool 21C and I can turn it off using Alexa which in the middle of the night is really nice - although be aware most Aircon units do munch electricity. I have wondered when my gas boiler dies if it's more efficient to get a Bidirectional Heat Pump fitted to the house, bearing in mind most heat pump units are (very simplistically) Aircon units running backwards (so to speak) - one that gives me heating in the winter and then AC in the summer?

If you can buy Midea Duo PAC which is a dual hose portable ac definitely worth it. If not you can get an Electrolux(AEG) one and make it simply dual hose with a 3D printed back side. Split ACs are simply unbeatable. They could be also used for heating too. But the installation costs etc are not small in UK I believe. Mitsubishi, Daikin, Midea are great for split ACs. You can also dehumidify your house with ACs. I am not living in UK but I'm a renter so I have a PAC in my bed room but luckily my living room had a split AC. We have very bad humidity in the summer

We used to have a Meaco one from Costco within that price range, and that broke within a year. Since then we tried an AEG one which was terrible, and now have a De’Longhi Pinguino. It looks like Currys have a couple near your price range. We also have a still working De’Longhi dehumidifier which is probably old enough to vote, and so while now I’ve praised them on the internet I’m sure they’ll both break immediately, I have some faith in the brand. Would definitely suggest considering spending a little extra on one of the Pinguinos if you can.

The AEG in my area is about 300$ Doesn't have a battery and only has an exhaust hose which means it will create negative pressure in your room.
