If you are just trying to cool yourself and are focussed on trying to sleep comfortably consider a personal cooler rather than a room cooler. We have a [Coolzy](https://www.coolzy.com/au/product/coolzy-pro-personal-air-conditioner-unit/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20790556776&gbraid=0AAAAAon1ptgfZtG6JyfFIFnGg6wFvE9qW&gclid=Cj0KCQiA6NTJBhDEARIsAB7QHD1_YENSyJ-Xqrp7yJ6edIvCM-EPR154FtIACazbfb7n9Ks5rHFHQjEaAlJ5EALw_wcB) for the room we use as a home office. Itβs very quiet and efficient to run. It blows cool air onto you, rather than cooling the room. We used it in our rental house too, before we moved to the place we bought. We had a west facing bedroom and no AC that was disgustingly hot in summer. We had it at the foot of the bed to blow cool air over us. I bought the optional exhaust kit for where we are now to blow the hot air out the window.
Get a Coolzy with a long hose to vent out the hot air from the windows. Good relief for 1 pax as an energy efficient portable aircon. Downsides being needing to sit extremely close to it to feel the cool air and it only blows over a small surface area.
I can recommend either the [Coolzy-Go](https://www.coolzy.com/au/product/portable-air-conditioner-coolzy-go/) or the [Coolzy-Pro](https://www.coolzy.com/au/product/coolzy-pro-personal-air-conditioner/). I had this problem as we just have a split system unit in the bedroom and the lounge/dining. Got this for the spare room in our flat and it's been really good but mainly targets yourself and not the room itself.
