GenesisRhapsodI had a delonghi 12500 btu for nearly 10 years before it blew out...was only $275. If you spend less than $200 on an ac unit, its probably garbage. Most bedrooms only need about 8000btu and many brands make acs that are good for the sub $300 range.

Pretty sure ours was a Delonghi, but this was many years ago - so there could be better options out there today
FN-BoredDe’longhi penguino portable A/C units. Are really good $300-$500. But must be careful. Have to have a pan under them, at some point it will leak.
