"another plus for Alen is that they are insanely quiet. I have a 45i and 75i and they are excellent."

"Yep used the wave 2 in my 28ft Airstream at night since I couldn’t sleep with the rooftop AC blowing. ... Set the unit up to drain out shower and blow directly into rear sleeping cabin. ... It was triple digits daytime and about 70/80 at night."

"However, they can run off of their own battery for 8 hours and can be recharged via solar or car charging."
"If you're running off battery, Eco mode (the leaf) is the most power-frugal setting. It cycles between air con and fan modes and we usually use that at night when we're not plugged in."
"The battery will not last long on high cooling mode but is reasonable on eco-mode."

"The plastic piece that holds the out hose to the body of the Wave has a pretty noticeable air leak especially on one side so I cover the edges with riggers tape."

"Trying mine out for the first time in my small trailer eight and a half by five and a half fully insulated 2 in thick insulation walls and ceiling and floor sun finally went down and steel cooler outside than it is in the trailer and air conditioner's been running for 3 hours wish I would have took it out earlier and tried it out and seeing if I could get my money back would not recommend would not recommend would not recommend. ... I have this thing sitting right at my window with maybe five of the clicks out on the hose so it's running straight in and it's just not doing it."
"I had 2 holes in the side of my van for intake and outtake, but pulling 100 degree air from outside doesnt cool down the van at all! It only worked at night for this trip."
"I wouldn’t want cool anything more than a box camper or small van with it though."

If you need a more compact unit, the Eco Flow Wave 2 or Wave 3 are fantastic. Two summers/winters on my Wave two. It heats at 6100 BTUS and cools at 5100 BTUs. Expensive, yes. However, they can run off of their own battery for 8 hours and can be recharged via solar or car charging.
r/VanLife • How do portable air conditioning units work in vans and RVs? Are they effective? ->I have the ECOFLOW wave 2 in my 2016 medium roof ford transit conversion van! The back living space is about 11.5 ft by 5.5 feet. The ECOFLOW is a portable AC unit and I’ve used it for 2 different trips now. The first 4 day trip I used it in Daytona, Florida in 65-100 degree weather. I had 2 holes in the side of my van for intake and outtake, but pulling 100 degree air from outside doesnt cool down the van at all! It only worked at night for this trip. I learned that it works infinitely better to just pull air from the inside of the van, and still have the single outtake vent sending the air outside the van. That way as the van is cooling down or warming up it makes it easier for the AC to work. I did this for my second trip in 62-85 degree weather in NC, and the ac works pretty well. Also the ac works great at any outside temperature with the vehicle driving and ac going, no need to pull air from the front to the back you can just turn it on and make sure the outtake vent is set up. If you want to cool everything down super fast I suggest just putting a fan blowing air from the front of the van while driving and put the ac on in the back. This makes my van ice cold. Other advice/info: My van needs better insulation [I have the walls, ceiling, and floor well insulted but the driving area need to be insulated off from the back of the van (i plan to do curtains lined with wool) and the sliding door and back doors need more insulation (also plan to do curtains lined with wool] once I do this I believe the ac should be able to work better in more extreme weather without the vehicle on. I use the 2400 pecron battery and 2 200watt pecron solar panels that are mounted on my roof to power the portable ac unit.
r/vandwellers • Using a portable AC unit to supplement van AC ->Wasteful yes, but it can be effective. I went camping two weeks ago in 95° heat at the scout camp north of Orlando and brought my Ecoflow wave 2. I was on staff for event, and it kept the interior of the tent fairly comfortable. It did run all night continuously. For reference this is a 4person tent from MSR.
r/camping • Any actual positive experiences with Echoflow Wave 3 portable air conditioner or should I just get a small residential portable unit?
->My mother is the same - heat pump runs almost all-year-round to cool her house. A proper heat pump would be the best option. Do you have one in the house currently? I have one at each end of our house - one in the lounge and one in the master bedroom. During a hot 26 degree day, both must run to cool the house but at night we only need the lounge one going and i cant hear it from my bedroom. So maybe this is a reason to get a heat pump installed in the lounge. Portable air conditioners are not good long term because they consume a lot of power and dont cool a large area but may work for this situation. They are also very loud. Maybe you can hire or borrow one? I truly believe single hose units should be illegal to sell in NZ. Delonghi used to sell a dual-hose model but it was about $200 more expensive, didnt sell well due to price, and so they stopped bringing them in. But it worked so much better than a single hose model. Your concern about the window is valid - they only ever come with sliding window kits. However when I was working in a temporary portacom office with pivoting windows, I cut out some large cardboard flat sheets, glued them together for thickness and rigidity. Jammed them in the window to seal it and then cut a hole for the hose to go through and keep a tight seal. In another temporary office, we had one set up so that it was out in the garage, using garage air as the source and waste, then had a baffle to direct the cold output into the office so it was only creating positive air pressure in the office with cold air going in. Edit: I have seen a couple of camping portable air conditioners that may work - they seem to come with dual hoses. 1 min.... Edit: Ecoflow i thought was the one - but it only has a single hose. I see jaycar has a model, will check that for you. 1 min.... It appears jaycar sell the only dual hose model in NZ. Its not very powerful - only does a single room. But at 240 watts, it would be a lot more efficient in how much cooling it can do with balanced air pressure compared to an 800 watt single-hose portable air conditioner that creates negative air pressure in the room. Being that its designed for tents and camping, its not going to come with a great window kit but you'll have to make something out of wood/cardboard anyway for that. another idea...1min.... Trade Depot search their site for Window Kit They sell window kits for push/pull pivot windows which i think would work well. You would need to cut a second hole for the second hose. This diagram should explain why portable air conditioners with a single exhaust hose are bad. [https://imgur.com/a/M3XqPq8](https://imgur.com/a/M3XqPq8)
r/newzealand • Room AC / Cooling Options ->You have to have 2 hoses for real air con and you really should insulate the outflow hose. You can buy velcro wraps cheap on amazon. 1 hose is just a fan with extra steps. Source: science, and my personal experience with an ecoflow Wave 2
r/vandwellers • My portable AC solution. ->No air con runs off 8 A (thats what your cig port output is). The "best" portable air con is EcoFlow Wave, however that requires AC, but you can get a big power station that can be charged via DC to power it. The "best" installed air con thats DC (i.e., 12 or 24 V) is Cruise N Comfort. Neither are cheap, both require a lot of amps. Anything smaller is probably not worthwhile. I have personal experience with both in my van
r/VanLife • Recommendations for 12v aircon ->EcoFlow Wave 2 is probably the best in this category. I would recommend it along with the biggest EcoFlow battery you can afford/have space for. It works well for what it is. Have used it for two summers in a 170 Sprinter. Not going to run for multiple nights without some sort of charging method even if you have a Delta Pro. Highly dependent on vehicle and conditions of course
r/VanLife • What plug in or battery powered AC do you recommend? What power station should I pair with it to run for multiple nights? What’s your experience? ->I used Ecoflow Wave 2 for a whole summer. Works pretty decently. The Wave 3 is even better

r/Ecoflow_community • 5000 BTU portable air conditioner: how I picked a cooling setup for van life ->I have one and used it plenty of times in my springbar skyliner tent...it works perfect. Cools the whole tent down alot...and makes it dry...but I've never been in it when it was over 90..only done 80s
r/RVLiving • Any experience with Portable AC Units? EcoFlow Wave 2 ->The guy knows nothing about air conditioners or Eco Flow, he's running it in a 72 F air conditioned house of course it will drop temp 10 degrees - also no vent ducts when he sticks that intake duct out in real world 90-100 degree outside air, its another story. Also all air conditioners dehumidify air nothing unique about this unit. I'm still waiting on a firmware upgrade for both my Wave 1 & 2. Of all thing the thermostat does not work you can set cooling or heating temps. Mike
r/Ecoflow_community • New EcoFlow Wave 3 Portable Air conditioner ->Trying mine out for the first time in my small trailer eight and a half by five and a half fully insulated 2 in thick insulation walls and ceiling and floor sun finally went down and steel cooler outside than it is in the trailer and air conditioner's been running for 3 hours wish I would have took it out earlier and tried it out and seeing if I could get my money back would not recommend would not recommend would not recommend. I have this thing sitting right at my window with maybe five of the clicks out on the hose so it's running straight in and it's just not doing it. Really disappointed. I'm handicapped and my medical conditions don't tolerate me heat and going to find something different.
