Are you sure you are past the return window for the fundamentally flawed air conditioner you bought? There are some really excellent dual hose units available. I just bought a true variable-speed ("inverter") GE PPHV10WWF dual hose unit that was on sale ($500 through July 21st) at Best Buy and it's performing extremely well. The [WireCutter article](https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/the-best-portable-air-conditioner) lists some other excellent inverter dual hose units. If that's not an option, check whether yours happens to be compatible with a [dual hose conversion kit](https://www.geappliances.com/appliance/Portable-AC-Dual-Hose-Conversion-Kit-RAP02). The one linked is for a few GE models; I'm not sure whether other manufacturers sell them. If that's not an option, I would work on improving the sealing of your added intake hose, and upsize it so it can easily pull air from outside without resistance. Only after that would I consider adding a third hose to pull some of the other intake from outside. But that should help and should be more efficient than cracking a window or adding a separate supply air fan to a window.
Model number is in the top level comment that this is all underneath. It's an inverter unit that I just got, and so far I'm quite happy with it. It's doing a great job of controlling the humidity as well as cooling, and it's impressively even when running at full power, rated 10 kbtu.
Fair, two other units I could recommend would be the Hisense Smart Tower Portable AC or the GE profile inverter Portable AC, they have the standard separate two hoses and you could clamp an extension on it. I have the Hisense tower, itβs great and it has a heat pump for winter.
