Based on 1 year's data from Mar 10, 2026 How it works

I have a dual hose portable Honeywell (MN10CEDWW) that has worked for me for years. To explain for the sake of explaining - the single hose models exhaust hot air outside, but the air that's getting exhausted needs to be replaced from somewhere. If you don't have a cool side of the house where cool air can come in, i.e. it's 90F everywhere (or the AQI is 150+), then that means hot air comes inside through some other area of the house, so your unit is fighting that hot air as well as radiant wall / window heating. So, if you live in a greenhouse, consider dual hose or some similar feature that does intake directly from outside air. The Honeywell is also noisy, the hose setup takes a while, and isn't convenient for all windows. It is big and heavy, although easy enough to move with wheels. It adequately cools larger rooms but I need to set up fans to move air into other areas that need it (which works fine but is cluttered). When shopping, I'd eyeball popular brands and then decide what of the features I've mentioned are make or break - room size, noise level, portability, and window fittings - when choosing.

I bought a Honeywell from best buy, it's saved me over the summers for years, it does have a hose that goes on a window but other than that it's a portable room ac, on wheels

Bought mine from a guy who had a storage room full of costco merchandise. It's been 5+ years and still going strong, not a hisense brand but a Honeywell would highly recommend

We got a Honeywell one from Costco over a decade ago. We keep waiting for it to die (so I can get a split system installed) but it goes and goes and just gets colder and colder. Stupid quality aircond.
