Just bought a meaco 12000 cisso. It seems quiet once it gets to the required temp but as its my first unit I cannot compare. Looking forward to the apparent heatwave next week. Its not cheap though. £500
I just got a new Meaco Cirro. The new models sold out in 48 hours or so. For anyone who missed out, you can sign up for notifications to keep a close eye for new stock. I was literally hounding them with emails because the most recent heatwave flared up all my health conditions. I got the Cirro 12k cooling only. £519. They have 'double wrapped' the compressor to make it quieter. I considered the 14k inverter and was well aware that it would be quieter and more efficient, but the 12k is already 30% overspecced for my space. 17msq. Frankly I was desperate to get a unit and I like Meaco so I went for it. I did not consider it a safe purchase to buy some dual unit off a European Amazon shop because of the nightmare of the customs and not being able to return it if it goes wrong. I am absolutely loving it. In night mode it is perfectly comfortable white noise and all the lights turn off. It gets the room temp down really quickly. It looks quite nice for a chunk of plastic. The sash window kit we modified (sawed a bit off) to make it fit my push-out window perfectly and we sealed up all the gaps. The compressor makes a 'thunk' noise when it turns off, however it's not too bad at all. (Kind of similar to my Meaco dehumidifier when it reaches the right humidity, if anyone has got one of those.) I'm used to it now and I'm only going to use it in heatwaves so it's fine. Once I've settled down for the night and been still for a while it starts to feel really cool and then I have the temp around 25, as that actually feels comfortable and stops the machine cycling. It's a shame they couldn't offer inverter for every BTU level. I only needed 10k BTU max. I've ended up keeping the bedroom door open and letting my small hallway get cool too, so it all works out ok. It's only been a few days but very very happy with my purchase.
I got the 12k unit delivered on Monday, it’s being used in a south facing room (UK) which is 15m squared. I’ve tried absolutely everything but I’ve not been able to get it to cool the room below 23 degrees. This is whilst it’s not been much higher than 25 degrees outside. I’ve had the blinds shut all day, bedroom door shut, all the electronics off, hose from the air-con as short and straight as it can be, made sure the window kit was snug. Checked for heat leaks on the hose, chucked a towel over the hose. You name it I’ve been down the Internet rabbit hole to try resolve it. Because the temperature can’t get down the air-con is always having to work hard and therefore isn’t quiet which was the main reason I purchased it. I’ll be returning the product and will be getting a proper air-con unit installed, if I was in a room on the back of the house it might’ve been okay but no dice for me.
You can usually hack a single hose into a dual hose: https://www.woolie.co.uk/article/convert-ac-from-single-hose-to-dual-hose/ I have done this with my Meaco Cool and a 3d printed adaptor.
Nabbed one from them on a Black Friday deal a couple of years ago and it's absolutely transformed my summer sleep quality. Having solar panels on the house also minimises the energy costs beyond a quick burst in the evening to cool the room before going to bed.
If that's a meaco you can 3d print an adapter and add a second hose to make it more effective https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNdH85QtD/
