I have a 14000 btu from meaco cool which is fine (noise levels as expected etc but it works) I did prefer my older 12000 btu from aeg however which was also cheaper.
I ordered 1400 no heating yday and it came today Let it stand for an hour and then unleashed it Felt sooooo nice 🥶 Didn’t notice the noise I managed to lift it up the stair case - no major issues but couldn’t do that several times a day - I’d have to give up my gym membership- my wife wouldn’t definitely struggle I haven’t put the window sash on yet - cos I have issues with velcrowing this to windows and then if I want to move it - I’d have to Velcro another room & the show goes on and on… jurys out on the window
its comign today... im gona use it in my room/office (WFH) and may be roll it to bedroom if needed. Then if I got the balls and muscle take it to the lounge on those summer nights... I may not live long enough to tell though - wife gona kill me when she finds out

I have the Meaco 14000 BTU and I’m happy with it. Not dual hose of course but cools the bedroom and when the doors are open the living room gets cooled a bit too, so the flat has been comfortable all summer.
I've just got Meaco Cirro 14000btu cooling. It's very quiet compared to other air conditioners according to reviews. I've never had one before but the ones I viewed online were loud. Not cheap though.
I tried mine this morning, the metre went up to about 18p a minute; I only had it on for a short time as was going out so not very scientific. I was fairly happy with the temperature drop, was noticeable. The real test will be the coming days, we'll be hitting 34! This model is inverter, which supposedly cuts down on costs. I don't understand the science as my brain is not wired that way! I've also added £40 to my electricity account as a precautionary measure. I'm fortunate the older noisier models were sold out when I tried to buy a couple of weeks ago, would have been very annoyed with Meaco had a purchased one of the previous models. If you can return, maybe you should? Doesn't sound like it's effective and these things are not cheap to buy or run. If you decide to buy Meaco, sign up to mailing list. The new range sold out in about 2 days.
/u/ReginaPhalange505 I used AC a lot today so thought I'd give an update. I have a meter with 3 different tarrifs throughout the day. The morning one didn't go above 18p per hour, the the more expensive one I can't say as the internet connection is off again but it'll be around 50p PH I imagine. Fortunately that rate is only 3 hours a day so not too painful. Not too sure how accurate meter is though. I started day with AC in south facing front room with massive bay windows but small room.. Cirro did quite well in the am but by afternoon it didn't get to the low temperature I wanted fast enough and I gave it 30 minutes. I spend most of my time in my cooler bedroom during summer, so moved it there as the next few days are going to be brutal. I'm menopausal and have constant hot flushes so this AC is a life saver. It's a smaller room, the sun is only present in the early morning. I found the AC worked much better in there. It's 22c right now and lovely! Window kit was not easy but that's probably a me problem, YouTube helped. I'm glad I bought it. I don't think portables will ever come close to installed AC but it's better than nothing and the Cirro seems to be an improvement on previous models and over time they will get better and more efficient/cheaper. Did yours arrive?
You can usually hack a single hose into a dual hose: https://www.woolie.co.uk/article/convert-ac-from-single-hose-to-dual-hose/ I have done this with my Meaco Cool and a 3d printed adaptor.
Nabbed one from them on a Black Friday deal a couple of years ago and it's absolutely transformed my summer sleep quality. Having solar panels on the house also minimises the energy costs beyond a quick burst in the evening to cool the room before going to bed.
