I have the same exact unit mate, do you mind sharing the link/page of the insulated duct pipe you bought ? Wondering if there’s a 1:1 compatible one

The main thing to remember is that they just aren’t *great*, and never will be, so do temper your expectations somewhat. What you will get is a lovely stream of cold air coming out. However you will also get: - A *lot* of noise, even quiet ones, even on sleep mode, they are just really noisy - A tube that you need to try and get to a window and attach to expel hot air Once you switch it off your room will likely heat up again pretty quickly. What I found it’s great for is cooling *you* down and bringing your body temp down so you’re just more comfortable and get some respite. I have a Meacool MC10000CH. Overall, I would recommend, but just keep in mind it won’t be perfect. Consider upgrading the 'exhaust' pipe to an insulated duct pipe. It's not pretty but the standard plastic pipe gets really hot and acts like a little radiator. Also think about how you're going to attach it to the window to prevent the outside air coming back in, some types of window can be awkward.

Those Meaco units are great! I bought the 10000BTU unit to cool the house as we have a baby, the baby doesn't like it for some reason and prefers to sleep without it. My win though as our bedroom was a cool 19°c when downstairs was 28°c. I think A/C will be pretty standard in the UK in 5/10 years time.

I have one, got it from costco its on the louder side but in terms of everything else cant fault it cools my room down nicely. Did end up buying a longer exhaust hose as the one provided is on the short side.

I bought a meaco 10K BTU one last year which triggered the coldest wettest summer for ages 😂 Luckily I fooled the weather by getting one that could heat as well as cool. I put some insulation over the exhaust hose to reduce the radiant heat from that, and cobbled together a window board that slots into an open casement window, and seals pretty well. The hose attaches to a 150mm ducting 'wall kit' from toolstation which in turn is vented out through the board. The unit itself does not get hot, other than the hose. And yes single hose is less efficient than dual, but that's all we can get here so... shrug.

Meaco have an eBay store where they sell "refurbished" units, I bought a 10,000 BTU model for £160 a few months ago, with 2 year warranty. As far as I could see it was brand new.

Nabbed one from them on a Black Friday deal a couple of years ago and it's absolutely transformed my summer sleep quality. Having solar panels on the house also minimises the energy costs beyond a quick burst in the evening to cool the room before going to bed.
